Just bought one of these for $162

Is it as described? I've been using 4 vibratory tumblers but they're dropping like flies and I've been planning on building a wet tumbler. This might save me the trouble but I'm finding it a "little" hard to believe that that drum will hold 1,000 pcs of.223/5.56 plus 5# of pins plus the...

About to buy a Dillon 1050

I had wanted to get a 1050 but bought a 650 because the Warranty on the 1050 was only a year. Then about 6 months later, I bought a Hornady LNL AP. I regret buying the Hornady and wished I'd bought another 650 (although again, I really wanted/needed a 1050 due to having removed the primer...

    weatherby ammo

I also shoot .257, .270. 7mm, .300, and .30-378 Weatherby. I know alot of people put a high value on the old "Tiger" boxes, I'm not one.....I've thrown a bunch of them away if there aren't any Factory loads in it. About as high as I will go on Weatherby ammo (I don't buy "store bought", just...

    Vacuum sealed ammo

I've used my FoodSaver and vacuum packed most of my .45 & 9mm ammo years ago. Some has bled vacuum off but most has held and I've never had a problem with any of it when taken out to use. I have yet to find one that the bullet has pulled out on. As has been said, it's probably overkill....

How do you dispose of live primers?

Usually I'll reuse them.I've decapped 1,000's of live primers (yeah, yeah, I know....not for everybody and not recommending it but I do it) and reused them. When I've had one with a heavy primer strike and I had a doubt, I've used this other method. I should add that although there's always...

    swage vs chamfer primer pocket

I use a Dillon. I've got an RCBS but it just sits on the shelf. I've found brass at the range the range that's been "reamed"....Most looks pretty good but I've seen a lot that has had about 1/3 of the primer pocket cut out. I'll stick with my Dillon.

How much material do you remove from Lake City primer crimps?

I've got an RCBS primer pocket swaging setup........ sitting on the shelf and 2 Dillon Super Swages that I actually use. Had Dillon offered a better Warranty on the 1050, I'd be using one of those instead of a 650 and the 2 Super Swages. Anyway, I've never cut the primer crimp out (don't...

    Homemade Case Lube

I've never tried HEET but I do use lanolin/alcohol mix. It's very easy to over lube with this stuff and dent the case shoulders. In the video, he's probably using twice the amount I use and I still have to make sure the excess is off the cases. I've never had a stuck case though I have had...

    Giraud annealing machine observations

I've been going to get a Giraud annealer for a while now but just haven't called them. I already have two of his trimmers and compared to every other trimmer I've used, I think they're the best. The ability to load the machine rather than having to hand feed each case seperately is the big...

First time using a dillon super 600 swager. Need assistance please.

Like Rp, my one problem with the 600 is the 5.56 anvil going off center, deforming the case web. Other than that, no problems and it works great for me (I actually have 2 setups-1 for small primer, 1 for large). I have an RCBS swagger setup that I don't even use anymore and have thought of...

    Reloading Start up

I acquired alot of my "stuff" this way although I haven't seen many Ads lately. Back around 2006, the "American Classifieds" (used to be the "Thrifty Nickel") paper came out on a Thursday and my Son saw the ad the next Friday morning after we got off work, advertising some reloading stuff for...

    Old Powder?

Not sure about blackpowder but smokeless (as far as I know) doesn't become "unstable or dangerous" but more the other direction-dead or inert (others will correct me if I'm wrong, I'm sure). I have alot of different powders and as P7 said, most have different smells, ranging from sweet to not...

Belted magnum: to neck size or full length size

I reload several sizes of belted magnum (300 WM, 7mm Rem, 7mm STW, 300/7mm/257 Weatherby) and have always FL sized mine. I got ahold of some nickel plated 1x fired 7mm Weatherby here awhile back in a trade and had something happen that I've never had happen. My dies "peeled" about 3/4" of...

Is my problem a bad lot of primers or light firing pin strikes???

I've found loaded rounds (rifle and pistol) at the range that had pretty deep primer strikes on them (not just a ding like from an AR) and looked like they should have went off. After pulling the bullet and dumping the powder, I'd put them in my firearms and "most" of the time, the primer...

    Suggestions for Tumbler/brass cleaner

I first wash my brass off with plain water to clean off the sand, dirt, etc and then wash a second time in citric acid/vinegar solution. It then goes into the tumbler with walnut shell/nufinish for a couple of hours. I seperate my range pick up brass by size (rifle, .45/44mag, .40/10mm...

New reloading strategy, comments wanted.. :)

I know of several people who take their gear to the range and work up a load right there. If you could back your truck up to your shooting bench and the conditions were good (no wind, rain, BooBoos wanting to bother you, etc) it would probably be good.
