I have Hornady 338LM and 30-06 dies that say they have the built in crimp in them I have the RCBS black set of 223/556 SB T/C that say they have the crimp built in them I also have 5 other sets of RCBS that are standard die sets. Should I look for crimp dies for the hornady or is...
Folks Im building up for my 338 LM. I looked at my Hornady book as well as a few sites to start with the base and get a maxium load set. I did three shots with each load. I started at 84.5 and stopped at 89.5 grains of H1000 with a 285 BTHP bullet. I got 1/2 way through my test and...
I looked in several other forums here and just couldn't find what I was looking to be answered. Im just looking for opinions here. I have a RR ar15 with the bull barrel with a 1/8 twist Rock River Arms: Varmint Rifle A4 Some people say different AR's shoot 223 or 556 better due to this or...
I got a 8 pound key of 4198 for my wifes bolt action 223. It was in the Hornady manual and the power was available so I picked it up. I got a RockRiver AR the other day looking in the book the 4198 powder is not listed for the 556 nato. Should I treat it the same as the 223 when building up...
My wifes 223 is a 1/9 the rockriver is the 1/8 I would like to find a powder that will work in both. Im not sure if the twist difference will really matter all that much for what we are doing. Im using different primers in both as well but that should not really matter.
Its the bull barrel model so its a 1/8 twist.. My local gun shop had some Nosler varmageddon 55g FBHP on sale for 20.00 for 250 so I picked those up. Mostly I will jus be plinking steel targets anyways the Hodgdon powder seems to be the way to go here
Dilemma, here is mine and probably others as well I got my wife a 223 savage that a guy had already built up a round for and got 150 reloaded bullets with it. I took it to the range and 3 shots at 100yards fit in a nickel and the 4th was just outside. The issue was he used CFE223 and I cant...
I got a Hornady 1500 scale as my first scale. Later I found out that it was way off on weights. 10-15 grains off. I have since gotten a new one digital and manual scale weight to verify the powder grains. I loaded up my 338 lapua on Saturday with Hornady 285's with 92.5 grains of H1000 My...
Im building a load up for my 338 LM and in my Hornady book for the 285 grain bullets it has a COL of 3.625 yet in another post on this forum his is 3.743 http://www.snipershide.com/shooting/range-report-exterior-ballistics/173020-gap-338lm-285-hornadys.html Is the COL different for each...
Im curious is anyone has been using this. My thoughts are that since the Hornady dies have the built in crimper on the bullet seater will this micro adjuster mess that up>? Amazon.com: Hornady Microjust Seating Stem: Sports & Outdoors Is the item im looking at. Or could be in 1-2 months...
Hey all Any input is apprecaited. I do not have a large place to reload the the Hornady AP if I mounted it on my deks would make 75% of it useless. So, Im thinking of putting this on a wall. Im going to get a good think piece of hard wood 1/2 thick as the backboard. Probably 2 or 3 foot...
I have gotten several news dies lately and it seems the first couple through the neck/deprimer die always seem to stick or have issues pulling out the de-primer part on exit . I clean them real well with Hornady 1 shot and also put a little case lube on the sinker die looking thing but each...
I got this brass from a friend and when I checking it after cleaning i noticed a lot of it had these small dings. I was not sure if these would be ok and its better to ask than kill myself. All of the dings look about the same and at the same height which is weird but let me know your opinion
I know that the more precises is the better of course but the all mighty dollar comes in to play more times than not. I got a set of digital calipers that have a accuracy of +/- 0.008 is this enough or should I look for a set will less tolerance? Thanks
I am by no means a competition marksman but I do love my .338 lapua. I am about to reload 100 or so rounds and I was thinking of going with the 200grain Hornadys instead of the 250/285 grains. The 200 grain I can get in boxes of 100 vs the 50 in the others and its just less expensive. Im...
