    Gunsmithing Interesting one....

Hi guys, over here in the uk, we cannot own s/a centerfire rifles, so all the AR's we have are straight pull, or .22 rimfire. Now, I've been thinking, if I had a manually operated 'gas system' using a divers 'buddy bottle' and a 'press to open' valve allowing air to do the job the gasses...

Rifle Scopes Scope Clearance: Barely Enough Room for a $1 Bill?

I had a very small clearance on my TRG 42 where I could 'just' squeeze a five pound note through. After about 20 shots, I removed the scope, and the finish was wearing off after contact with the barrel during firing. New mounts, and it shoots tighter, so it was obviously doing something it...

    1,000 yards with 168 grn. 308

Everyone seems to 'poo pooh' ALL 168's as the 168 smk are renown for being bad going through the transonic barrier, it's to do with the overly sharp boat tail, but it doesn't mean ALL 168's are bad, just tarred with the same shitty brush :/ Regards Pete

    reloader 33

My buddy has been using it for a while, and has said it's pretty good, his loads worked up last summer are still working through our winter, and summer again, probably about a 30c variance. I'm hoping it's good as I'm about to start using it too Regards Pete

    Necking down .308 brass

Easy. Just run it through your full length sizing die. If your going down 'one size' ie, to 7-08, then it should be fine to use, if going 'two sizes' ie, 260,then you may have to neck turn, same applies to 243, depending upon how tight the chamber is. You might find the necks too short to start...

    Gunsmithing Case head separation

Post #7 gives a good clue. Check for donuts, you may have to ream your brass after necking it up. Then keep an eye on it re-appearing. Personally, I'd just neck size (once reamed) until it gets a bit tight closing the bolt on an unfired round, then just bump the shoulders back enough to...

    Tikka CTR compatible parts

Might have been me, I fitted a TRG trigger to my tikka 595. Only mod needed was a swap over of the safety, and a little dremmel work on the trigger blade and guard as the TRG trigger sits lower. Nothing wrong with the std trigger, but as I'm running two TRG's and the tikka, and had a spare...

little advice from your personal experience on a bolt rifle??

Now, if your thinking 'TRG', then my advice, save that extra grand and go for it. You won't regret it. I have two now, my first was/is a 22 with a 26" tube, now with a 26" .260 tube I swap over with the original, now cut to 20" .308. And not long bought a 42 in 338 for the bigger foxes ;) If...

Sidearms & Scatterguns knives in england

Personally, I'd not bother. The uk laws on carrying a knife are silly. If you don't have a good, and I mean 'very good' reason, then you'll get nicked for carrying. Anything with a fixed blade is a no-no, locking blades also a no, just about the only type you might get away with, is a...

    Gunsmithing Case head separation

It's not a 'gun' issue. Brass will wear out, especially when ran hot enough to stamp the ejector void as well as it has done. If that was done on a 'normal' load, then you will soon have a gun issue. Regards Pete

little advice from your personal experience on a bolt rifle??

The Tikka 595 is a great action. I had a 308 master sporter, now running (amongst others) a 595 in .222 with a TRG trigger, now THAT is sweet :) Regards Pete
