I made friends with a couple guys at Barrett when I was doing their Armorer's courses. They've got a few other calibers in the works for the MRADs. I don't know of any company making aftermarket barrels for them though.
Having been through their factory only a little over a month ago, I did see and hear firsthand what they have in the works for the MRADs. I can promise, what's coming, regardless of how long it takes, will be good.
Never said it was. I know an MRAD is heavy as hell, I have one. I was just pointing out that there are caliber conversions out now with more in the works.
Barrett Rifles - BARREL CONVERSION KIT, MRAD .308 WIN, 22", SS, FLUTED, 1-10 You can order a .308 conversion for your MRAD right now, with the .300 WM expected for March '14. Barrett also has multiple other caliber conversions in the work for the MRADs so it'll be worth it to hang onto your rifle.
Looks like I need to post my semi auto collection later today. 20+ ARs, two SCARs, one AUG, two Vectors, two Barrett M82s, M1 Garand, M1A, AK47, and a few other things. I needed to take a group picture anyway.
Thanks! I'm a big fan of the MI rail extension because of the extra length compared to other rail extensions, got rid of the front sight, and it fit perfectly with the shorter barrel. The SOCOM will probably tuck inside the rail about half an inch whenever it gets here. I haven't run the...
I'm in NW Houston. I don't shoot at ranges around town more than a couple times a year. I usually go out to buddies' ranches to play, especially for longer range stuff. I'd go to local ranges more often if I had some other people to shoot with on a regular basis.
I own a 5-20 Vortex Razor HD, Bushnell DMR 3.5-21 (basically the same as ERS minus the zero stop), and the Bushnell XRS 4.5-30 (as well as a number of other high end optics from various manufacturers) and if I were buying a scope in that level today, I'd get a Bushnell DMR. Don't get me wrong...
I appreciate it. I'm not sure on the weight. The Midwest rail extension added a bit more weight than I was expecting but it was completely worth it being able to extend my arm further and for how awesome it looks with the 14" barrel. I'll pull the optics and mag out to weigh it tomorrow...
I'm a huge fan of the Fortis MFG rails that were mentioned above. I've got 4 of them and they are completely rock solid, they look great, clamp right on the regular barrel nut, and they are definitely one of the lighter rails available. Full top and bottom rails, keymod at both 3 and 9 o'clock...
Yes, the SCAR 14" barrel assembly is exactly 14" from the bolt face, not 14.5" like most all AR barrels. You have to be careful when picking a muzzle device so that it adds at least 2" to the barrel so you're still over 16" when its pinned. With the SF SOCOM brake, the brake covers 1/2" of...
These barrels are sold as complete assemblies (gas block, piston, bottom rail, barrel yoke, etc) from FN and are available to civilians. You can buy them without any NFA stamp as its just a barrel and it would be you making it into a SBR without having a stamp. The street price is roughly...
