Gunsmithing 1 in 7 223 barrel for Rem Bolt gun

OK who makes a good, 1 in 7 twist barrel blank I can put on my Rem 700 Varment?

It shoots great with 53s but when I tried to shoot my HP rounds (77 grn SMKs) at a 100 yards I couldnt even get them to hit a 25 Yard Pistol RF 12 x 12 repair center. The same gun puts them where they are suppose to be with the 53s, nice tight knot, but I cant even get the 77s on paper.

I couldnt find any 1 in 7 223 barrel blanks on Brownell's web site.

In addition to the two above, Rock Creek, Bartlein, Hart. I jus received a nice barrel from Brux Barrels. Their turnaround is about 4-5 weeks.

What do you want the 1in7 for? Get a Douglas 1 in 8 and you can shoot up to 90 grainers no problem. In my 220 Swift I shoot 75 Amax moly's at 3500 feet per second and I shot a 3 in four shot group at a thousand. Ended up being a little over 5 inch 5 shot group. (Gonna get pics up soon.) Don't worry about getting any tighter of a twist than an eight.

I wnet with a 1-7 for an Encore build ,I know that the 1-8 will shoot just about everything but I wanted to error on the side of caution as this just will likely shoot some heavy subsonic loads through a suppressor.

Its better to have a little more spin than needed than to not have enough and be stuck with a limited selection of bullets.

My 1-7 Kreiger is fitted to an Encore lug and frame chambered for 223 and has a pretty long throat , can't get 55gr bullet to touch the lands but they still shoot very well (about 1/2moa) , it shoots the 80gr A-max under 1/2 moa to 400yds very consistantly

i have a 1-7" Hart and a 1-8" Krieger. the 7 twist shoots as well as the 8 twist. i may try a 1-6.5" barrel next.

Shilen Barrels has a 1 in 7 twist.

I run it on my 22-250, I shoot 80gr Amax bullets at 3200fps.
