.22 br

Nope and have plenty of clearance. I tightened my neck up a hair because of my fired vs loaded neck diameter difference. Leaves me .002 per side

I just checked my print...my new reamer has a .255 neck not .254! My mistake...the PVA had a .256 neck...I tightened it up .001

I've found amp 6br aztec anneal code to be 152-155 depending on load psi, anyone use the aztec for 22br? Is it near 165/170 to heat the small necks up? Lapua 22cm turned is 175 aztec in my testing.

I am getting an AZTEC code of 0155 for my 6BRA and 0158 for the 22BR.

I anneal every firing and both shooting very well.

For every Aztec setting I have analyzed it comes back with a four digit code, screenshot from the AMP website is shown below...

200 pieces of brass necked down and picking up my barreled action on 10-19, can't wait to get some rounds down range!

What are y'all trimming your brass length to?

Doc

Finally got some time to get some rounds down range, started with seating depth while the barrel speeds up. Starting load of 27.0 grains of Varget with the Berger 85.5 hybrid seated with .005 jump gave me 2,832 fps. Group shown below are shots 9-11 out of the Benchmark 1:7.5 twist in MTU contour finished at 26" and for those that believe shooting suppressed compromises accuracy........

So, I loaded up from 27.6 to 30.4 of varget and an 88gr ELDM and got pressure to the point of popping primers at 30.1.

Any clue.

Group for 27.9gr

Anyone running lighter bullets? Shorter freebore? Just curious. Pondering a low recoil hunting round, 77tmk have an excellent reputation for killing deer even elk with proper placement. Would likely be a 20" pipe for supressor use.

I'm gonna be loading up some 73gr ELDM today and gonna shoot. I have .050 freebore.

I'm unning the 75eldm from an 18" 22cm. Loads sub moa at 400y with no powder tune, just some seating depth tweaks. Running 3100fps. Shot two mulies yesterday morning. First was large body buck at 275y(2600fps impact), in the crease, did a 50y death sprint and piled up, massive lung trauma, deer bleed out profusely from the mouth before I got to him, no blood as I cut neck, it was all in the boiler room and on ground. Nickel entrance through a rib, exit was quarter size throug a rib. Next was a younger medium body buck, 475y(2250fps impact), strong crosswind, but my nephew who's never killed a deer, put the bullet at the neck shoulder junction, pencil entrance, quarter exit. That deer was lights out. I was impressed with bullet performance. This load is no pressure, and is only 40gr H4350 I feel another 150fps is on the table. I also only have 65 rounds down the pipe but has already speed up 50-60 from first 20 rounds.

What twist is the barrel?

What twist is the barrel?
7tw osprey 219 bore at 18" I will likely run 88s for hunting at around 3000fps or so. Faster velocity makes em prone to over expansion for splashy results on game. My 22br reamer is ordered will be 0.140 freebore for heavies like the 90atip. My 22cm is freebore at 0.120 and works with 75s seated 37k off lands. They're well above neck shoulder junction. As throat wears away I'll likely switch to 77tmk as the bearing surface is quite a bit longer.

Edit for grammar.

Got the Labradar out this weekend and settled on charge weight of 29.1 grains of Varget which got me 2,992 FPS with ES of 9 and SD of 5.0

So my load with 28.9gr and 75gr ELD sitting on the lands and CCI450 primer with Lapua formed brass and shoulder set back .002 Sizing with a .249 bushing gives me .002 neck tension is 3189 average. 7SD with 27 ES.

100yds for groups

ETA: velocity/distance for groups.

Pics of groups. Colored box is a 1/4". All groups are 5rds.

100 yards? And that colored square looks to be 1/2" if those are 22-cal holes.

What's your use case? Did you try any jump?

Sorry yes the box that is colored is 1/2". I got jumbled thinking about the smaller boxes above the grouping.

Yes 100yds. It weighed in with water at 38.6gr of capacity. My charge of 28.9 was a bit below the shoulder. No jump yet. My freebore is .035 from the reamer my gunsmith used. Iay have him push it out to be able to use the heavier bullets.

Ah, gotcha 👍

Strelok show it supersonic out to 1525. At 5300ft elevation here in CO.

Right? Honestly this little cartridge impresses the hell out of me. 0.4 more mil wind hold in a 10mph crosser at 1000 yards versus my 147gr ELDM load in 6.5CM, for less component cost and vastly less recoil.

Fun toy for sure.

There is absolutely no felt recoil in my rifle. It's a Kelbly Prometheus Left hand Short action with an Osprey barrel from PVA that is the proof heavy barrel. It's 1" at the muzzle. Thing is heavy as hell.

So would TAC be a viable powder in 22BR with 70-75gr projectiles?

If so where would be a good start range

Doc

On the burn chart Ramshot TAC is about equal to H4895 and if you have a reloading manual or search the interwebs.....

View attachment 8005574
I did, shows a max charge of 25.8gr per Sierra. However when I run that through p-max, it shows it as a very low charge and pressure.

I just wanted to know if anyone actually has used this powder for a 73-77gr bullets.

Doc

So today I went out and shot my load with TAC and a 75gr eldM. Just touching the lands. Cci450 primer and Lapua 2x fired brass with 2 thousands neck tension.

Shot from 24.5gr to 29.8grs
Sierra manual had max load at 25.8gr for a 77gr. Bullet.

No issues whatsoever and zero pressure signs.

Good day over all.

I love 75ELD’s!
I run them with LVR @ about 3,150 currently.
Took Dad to 1,000 yards with them last week. He had never shot at anything past 250. Had certainly never fired a heavyweight target rifle.
He had a ball!!!

Got a box of 80.5 Bergers to play with.
33.0grn RL16 gave 3126 over the pro chrono. 24” 7” Bartlein w/ a 9” suppressor. Lapua, 450’s.
That speed is right where I think they need to live.
Was thinking about trying a ladder from 32.5-33.5.
Anyone else played with this combo?

My 22br reamer shipped, 255nk, 130k freebore, 225 freebore diameter. Anyone mess with alpha ocd 6br brass necked down? Lapua is tough to get right now. I don't want to neck turn, and Alpha is usually as thick, or thicker than lapua. I have 1k 85.5s, and 1k 88eldm to play with currently.

Should have no problem with alpha brass with a .255 neck reamer.
I found some lapua. 350pcs 3x fired and 200pcs new. Both my barrels are getting cut soon to my origin, Mullerworks 219 bore 7tw 4r hvy varm, and a hawkhill 219 bore 7tw 4gr comp, both will be finished at 28". This is sad to say, but I'm more excited about this cartridge than any the others I shoot. I have 2k 90gr smk, 2800 88eldm, and around 2200 90 atips. Plenty of bullets to burn both barrels. These will likely be practice rigs as I have a 6gt and a 25cm that get brought to matches. I'll be experimenting with 4166, rl15.5, Varget, H4350 to find the best accuracy.

As pointed out, you won't have any neck issues with that .255 reamer. That reamer print is money..

29grs of Varget has been spot on for me through multiple Hawk Hill barrels. The 88s were usually right around 2990fps. I never shot the 90gr, but the 85.5gr Bergers with their shorter bearing surface consistently ran faster at around 3040fps. I jumped them .040 and shot those loads from beginning to end of the barrels life without touching it. It would usually lose about 60 to 80fps throughout its life, but they bugholed all the way through.

I'll say that I wish I had a little more FB than the 0.130" I ordered for my reamer. With 0.050" jump, it puts the bottom of the bearing surface veeeery close to the neck/shoulder junction. I wouldn't mind another 0.020-30" in there for peace of mind, for all that we're talking very small amounts.

ETA: 88gr ELD-M in Lapua 6BR brass necked down

Anyone having luck with 1:8 with bullets in the 80gr or heavier
