The Model-7 in 300 AAC BLACKOUT is designed by AAC (but with access to Remington drawings), assembled at AAC by a small team of people, and shipped from AAC. The barrel is nitrided and made to AAC specifications, but not made by Remington.

Features:

Weather-proof synthetic stock with AAC adjustable cheek piece.

Muzzle threaded 5/8-24 for compatibility with sound suppressors. AAC thread protector included.

Carefully Assembled in small batches at AAC on Remington-supplied custom actions.

X-Mark Pro adjustable trigger.

AAC Picatinny scope mount pre-installed using the same beefier Torx screws as used in the US Army's M24 sniper rifle.

Nitrided light weight 1/8 twist 16" barrel, for extreme hardness and long life.

Re: 300 BLK Model-7

I think they could have kept the profile the same as the "stepped" portion at the end of the barrel, it would have looked much nicer.

Very neat little idea though!

Re: 300 BLK Model-7

Nice set up. How does it feed from the BDL? How is the extraction? I had some problems with my 300/221 feeding but it was from a 700sa I went with some AICS 223 mags and have never looked back it is flawless.

Re: 300 BLK Model-7

They are shipping this month. AcuSport will have them. $899 MSRP. I don't have accuracy data. This has a 17 Fireball extractor, not a 223 one.

Re: 300 BLK Model-7

You need a dealer account with them.

Bulls-Eye Indoor Range & Gun Shop Lawrenceville, GA bought a bunch also and they will be selling them.

Re: 300 BLK Model-7

Hey Silvers

Are you going to get your hands on one of these anytime soon to do some testing. Also does the stock have a rubber coating on it like a hogue?

Re: 300 BLK Model-7

I might try this one out.
I'm a little skeptical about the barrel contour with a can hanging off the end.
Personally, I think that the LTR contour with shortened flutes, cut to 16" would be a better seller.

Re: 300 BLK Model-7

I see flutes to stiffen the barrel.

My LTR was far easier to tune with handloads and shot very well compared to several other factory rifles.
I think that the stiffness of its short agressively fluted barrel had something to do with that.

I can appreciate the desire to lighten a rifle with a suppressor on the end.
For the past 2 years I've use a 20" 223AI with a suppressor on my farm and it handles poorly slung on the shoulder and points awkwardly due to the weight of the suppressor.
I would sooner add weight in the butt to make it handle better than add a very thin contoured barrel.
But that is my opinion.

Re: 300 BLK Model-7

Please forgive me if this is a dumb question, but what's the point of the 300 Blackout on a bolt?

I thought the purpose of the 300 was to get a .30 to work well in an AR, which from what I've read it does superbly. What would this do in a bolt action that couldn't be done better and cheaper with existing calibers?

Like 30-30 or 7.62x39? They would not have much factory subsonic ammo out for them, and you could not share the ammo with your 300 AAC BLACKOUT AR.

Re: 300 BLK Model-7

When you need one of the quietest setups out there that has some decent energy behind it, the 300 AAC Blackout in a bolt gun is hard to beat if you don't reload. We shoot hogs all the time pretty close to residential areas and even with a suppressed full power loads, it's too loud and can be heard inside houses. The 300 AAC Blackout does a pretty good job at lowering the sound levels enough to shoot without being noticed. Even with the supersonic loads, it's not loud like a suppressed full power .308 or .223.

Hey Rsilvers,

Just wondering if you know when these guys will be getting these rifles in stock? Can't wait to get my hands on one.

Re: 300 BLK Model-7

Well I got one on order, now I need to figure out what I'm going to use for an optic.

I was thinking the Vortex Viper PST 1-4x24, what do you think?

Re: 300 BLK Model-7

This little rifle will be in my possession tonight and I plan to do some testing this weekend if my brass and scope comes in.

If anyone is curious, I will post some results.

Re: 300 BLK Model-7

Got one this week and took it to the range today. I bought a box of the Remington 220's (subsonic) to get me started and I'm not at all impressed with the accuracy. I was getting about 2 1/2" groups at 100yds. On the other hand I have a 762-SD on my rifle and I am very impressed with how quiet the rifle/silencer/ammo combo is. I don't figure I'll be shooting at anything much past 100 yds. but I would still like a little better groups. Has anyone had any luck or tried hand loads in one yet?

Re: 300 BLK Model-7

So how wood the blackout perform against a subsonic 308 I guess I don't see why you just wouldn't shoot a subsonic 308 then have the option of supersonic. Forgive my ignorance I've never been around either.

Re: 300 BLK Model-7

I am curious about the choice of the M7 instead of a standard M700. Seems like the options for stocks would be better and we all know someone wants to run mags on these.

Re: 300 BLK Model-7

Nice handy looking rig there RSilvers, I really dig the products you guys are turning out there. I'll post the question in this thread, quoted from the other thread referenced by Scoop.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: vizsla owned</div><div class="ubbcode-body"> whole lot quieter than an AR and you don't have too chase brass but can still use the same can, </div></div>

My question is wouldn't an adjustable gas block like the JP or Noveske turned all the way off accomplish the same decibel reduction on a 300AAC upper as the bolt gun and you wouldn't have to chase brass?
