45 acp load with a Hornady 225 FTX

Just did a load with the 225 gr FTX in 45 acp using 4.2 gr of tight group. It work very well. didn't chron it yet but will try monday. I used a block 21sf and feed fine and the slide lock back on the last shot. I put no crimp on it. I ll try a crimp on it tomorrow and report to you guys. If it works out it will replace the Horaday 45 Auto+P 220 gr FlexLock® Critical DUTY for me.

results today where good it speed was 750fps average and I ll try to get a pic of what it looks like. But all in all this is going to replace my hollow points for sure

No, just size the case and prime, powder,bullet and slight crimp and thats IT! It ran fine in my glock 21sf no issues. I just loaded the rest of the box and looks sick. I plan on getting more and add more powder for more FPS. Max I plan on shooting is 800FPS with this load. What .45 pistol are you thinking to try this on?

Possibly my para 1911 . I have loaded those up in my 45 Long Colt and they work great in that.

One last question, what bullet diameter FTX are you using? I know 45 ACP is .451 and 45 Long Colt is.452

It might be a while, I'm working 6 tens and when I get off work everything is closed, so I might have to order them. Thanks for all your input . Happy shooting

It is .452 and .001 shouldn't matter much

Well its a no go. I loaded up 10. They fit in the magazine but wouldn't chamber correctly.
