6gt

That fast with the 115s holy crap lol. I assumed 109s.

Have you shot them at distance? I was having issues past 900 with 109s. Would see it miss off either side of the plate. 800 and in it was me if I missed.

Yeah that’s the go to but I have a 308 kit. It looks like the powder funnel, case feed body bushing and adapter are the only things different between the 22-250 to the 308 conversion. Hand cycling the case feeder seems to work so I was hoping someone else tried to use the 308 kit.
Maybe the powder funnel will give me trouble but I will e dropping charges by hand.

Has anyone tried to progressive reload 6mm GT with CFE223? Seems to be a growing approach for loading 6mm ARC.
Guys running stiff loads of cfe223 in a 6arc pushing 6br velocity are likely running 65-70k psi, barrel life will be no better than a 6br. The 6arc is 34.5gr capacity, the 6gt is 44gr. Cfe 223 might work in a 6gt with 60-80gr bullets. But for heavies, you need slower powders. If you must run ball powder, try stabal match.

I'm interested in the option to progressive load. I'm not overly concerned with barrel life.

I have tried Stabal Match using an automated press and automated volumetric dropper. The results were meh.

I’m coming up empty handed on my own. Recently built a 6GT with an Impact action and Stuteville Precision 1:7.5, 26” barrel. Was looking for anyone’s experience loading 105 hybrids with N555. I’ve had a great experience with it over Varget in my 6.5 so I have a strong supply. I’ve seen one or two individuals note using it on 109 and 110s with some success. looking for any starting info for the 105s. Much appreciated!

^ It would be interesting to see what the results with N555 are. I would have considered it to be a bit slow for the GT, even being a double-base... but sometimes the results can surprise you.

Does N160 carbon foul heavily like N150? N150 shoots great in my 6br but F me is cleaning a chore, reminds me of rl16.
All the VV powders are a bit dirty, some more than others. N160 is dirty but not terrible. We clean every few hundred rounds too, 150 to 300. The GT seems to be susceptible to carbon rings and we do not want to deal with that so we clean more frequently.

I have a bit of experience with N150 in the GT as well as the 6.5x47L and even .223. I love it, and clean about every 100-125 rounds anyway so it isn't bad. Definitely "cleaner" than some of the Reloader powders (15 and 16 specifically IME).

Every 200-250 rounds I go after the carbon ring, regardless of what I'm shooting.

I am getting real bummed. I have been using VV powders for years now, got tired of waiting on H4350 etc and now all you folks are looking for alternatives to the over priced H powders. Bastards going to make my secret well of powders disappear! I hate you all.

Yep, although I changed only about 2-3 years ago. N133, N135, N150, and now recently N160 and N568. Hodgdon, IMR, and definitely Alliant are all but dead to me these days.

Unfortunately I think I've somehow developed a powder collection in the process... Up to the legal limit for storage purposes of course.

Just cleaned after 100 rounds of N160 in a different barrel yesterday. I was expecting far worse from what I've read...

Very limited experience with that powder so far, but I'm liking what I'm seeing so far.
I have no experience with n160. I use n165 in my 7Saum and stocked up on n150 for my br when the varget is gone.

Whats your load data with N160? Bullet, charge, mv? Curios what bullets it'd be best for. I have a very large supply of H4350, but always open to alternatives, as I see it's 25% less per #.

Sorry man...When I said "different barrel", I should have stated that it was a different cartridge too. I've been playing with it in .260 Rem.

I really think it is too slow for the GT as it is basically H4831 burn rate. N150 though is the bomb-diggity in my GT.

N160 works with heavies. My QL profile with 115 dtacs has max at around 38.5 and 37 is 2845 and 99.9% burn. I don't think it would work well with 105s but I have never tried. N150 and RL15.5 are my other go to powders for the gt. I tried N555 too, and it works but it is a full compressed load. I plan to run N160 on this new barrel with dtacs.

My particular lot of N150 and a lot of Varget were within 15fps of one another in one my 6gt barrels shooting 107smk. N150 shot great, however 75-100 rounds after cleaning, velocity would start picking up. In a 100rd match, last 2-3 stages I have to pull dope or adjust velocity. Got tired of fn with it and went back to varget/105s on that barrel. The VV powders shoot very well, however if found them to carbon foul a lot more than Hodgdon extreme line.

I got consistent crazy low SD’s with RL15.5 , 109’s and 115 DTACS. But with the lack of finding it in stock at the time then the huge price increase I just switched to H4350

@RangeDay

Found my 105 Hybrid data with N150. 1.947 CBTO, Fed 205MAR primer. Tried higher ,but accuracy came apart. These are just five shot groups.

View attachment 8674331

With the 95gr Nosler BT, I got up to 34.2gr and right at 3,050 FPS...accuracy was 2/3 MOA.

27" barrel.
Hey, thanks for posting! This will definitely help with my starting point. Picked up a # on Friday to get it a go. Thanks!

I am getting sporadic ejector marks on my brass with loads that are under the Hodgdon book max. No carbon ring (checked with borescope)

Alpha brass - 1x fired.

Read somewhere this is normal with Alpha brass. Anyone else seen this?

You need to be more specific with load, powder, bullet, speed, reloading process / bump, etc. I run Alpha in 3 rigs without issue and do not have issues running 109s at 2930 or 115 DTACs at 2850.

I'm shooting an 18" 1:8" twist Brux barrel with .236" bore.

I'm bumping shoulders about 0.002" but it's hard to say precisely as it appears that the brass has fire-formed various amounts since new. The max I've measured is about 0.008" shorter on a new case vs a 1x fired case.

I've shot Varget and H4350 with 105 VLD and 108 ELDM. Loads from 1gr under max to book max. About 0.030" jump to the lands. (never touching or jammed).

Sporadic ejector marks on cases from all loads.

I found a thread noting that it can happen with Alpha brass due to the initial factory finish and hardness.
