Expected a little better velocities, groups, and deviations than this… Really don’t know where to go with powder, I do have Ramshot Grand that I might try despite having zero load data to go on…

ADG Brass, new, neck sized, mic’d for neck wall thickness, length checked, etc.

Tikka built as a long action, 22” 1-7.5tw barrel, 180gr ELD-M, H1000 powder, CCI LMR, 3.117” OAL, 0.050” jump.

I saw no pressure signs on any of these loads despite loading 0.6gr over the max Sierra recommends. None were even close to a compression load, I may try a few loads with more powder.

You can revisit your top two charges. There might be something around there.

How did you determine your jump? Did you test seating depth or ???

H1000 is a little slow for your cartridge but overalll a great power. I don’t think you could fit enough in the case to cause any real issues. Safe to go higher as you assess for pressure signs

I find Sierra’s data a good starting point in my 300 WSM, but wildly different than Hornady’s manual with the same weight bullets. I know different jacket materials, different bearing surfaces, etc. I’m 2 grains over Sierra’s max with R26 and no pressure signs, and single digit SD’s. But it’s very barrel and bullet specific and I don’t really trust “pressure signs” as a good indicator of max pressure. Proceed with caution, but I would not be too concerned being over listed max with Sierra data.

Seirra probably doesn't have load data for the bullet you are shooting. I would also venture a guess seirra didn't use ADG brass either.

Just because two bullets are the same weight doesn't mean the load data for them is the same.

Measured seating depth, oh you can absolutely fit more powder in than is safe, I was able to loaded 65.8gr oh H1000 with only a tiny crunch... Hodgdon has some VERY inaccurate load data and I found that out very very quickly at the range first time out. They state for 175gr bullets with H1000 a starting charge of 61.0gr and max of 65.5gr, I can tell you primers were flat, heavy bolt lift and ejector swipe marks at the 63.0gr charge I started with. H1000 and RL26 produced the best velocities in manuals and from all the research I've done.
Might also want to state the type of bbl section you have, and the goals of the shooting.

This might all be considered normal and good in some contexts, mediocre in others.
Do you mean barrel profile? If so its an M24 contour and I expect half moa or better from this barrel.

They're one of if not the only than published data for 180gr bullets. Nosler even states for H1000 59.0gr for 185gr bullets and 61.5 for 175gr bullets. At 63.0gr as I mentioned above I had serious pressure signs, really good velocities and some decent groups/deviations.

Well sadly loading 180gr bullets in 7 SAUM isn't really popular with reloading manuals and I've read and reread every single thread, post, etc on every shooting forum about heavies and 7 SAUM, loaded long or even short action mag length while I was waiting for my barrel to get here.

I'm definitely listening to what you all are saying, my only thought at this point is maybe try going up a little in charge weight to 62.0gr and see if it falls back into a decent node for ES/SD and maybe I'll get a decent group and speed around there. I'd like to see 2650-2700fps out of these with H1000.

I can tell you that Ramshot Grand at 66.5gr (extrapolating from 7WSM Hodgdon data) and working up from there I only let one 3shot group go at that charge weight and saw over 2900fps... But there was pressure issues, similar to the 66.5 H1000 data for Hodgdon. I don't know what is going on with their 7SAUM load data but its wayyyyy off, some of their charge weights are at or more than what they recommend for 7PRC with this bullet and powder!

Try 4831SC. I've had good luck in my SAUM with it and 150 bergers in my shorty. Getting 2950 out of an 18 in supressed setup. I also have a heavier bullet 26in barrel shooting ELDM'S, but I run Reloader 26 through it, which works well if you can find it.
