Accuracy International AT-X

I’d bet it would be difficult to really see a difference between a well broken in AI bolt and the new improved lighter bolt lift. For $2.5k less, I’ll dryfire and cycle it to break it in while watching pornhu…. Jeopardy.

My used AX308 is much lighter bolt lift and also smoother then my AXSR and AT-X.
Jacob Bynum had/has an AW with 6 digits through the action...hands down one of the smoothest bolts I've ever touched, thanks to that much usage.

I just got my first AT-X (very first AI for that matter), and it has less than 300 bolt cycles on it.
Bolt lift was definitely harder than I thought it would be, but nothing concerning. I too am looking forward to smoothing my action out by putting lots of rounds through the tube in the near future!

@PlinkIt @Huskydriver not that I want to derail the thread too much but the ATX and AI AO (action and chassis only) are about the same weight. Smidge over 8lbs.
This is what I might end up running in the NRL Hunter match this month. And I’ve hunted with a fully kitted AXMC at 19-20lbs a few times. My regular hunting rifles at usually between 13-16lbs.
In regards to balance point, it’s all jacked up in this configuration, way too rear heavy. Realistically it balances right at 19-20lbs. My medium Palma barrel is too light.

What chassis/forend is this. I need it

I'm genuinely curious why you'd dump your AT-X for the AT-XC.

What are you seeing that makes you think it would be a worthwhile upgrade?

Sorry, lots of post since this one.

  • I want to run what I am selling, and be able to speak about both.
  • I also like the additional safety features.
  • I want to keep parts compatibility with new stuff coming out in the future
  • My cost is less than retail so the price isn't as big of an impact
  • I currently have some issues with primer cratering (6mm BRA w 115 DTACS) - and want to see if the new bolt assembly reduces/resolves those. I have some hopes for this since there seem to have been some work done by AI around the entire firing pin/bolt head pressure testing area
These are the main reasons, but I suspect that while it doesn't seem like much of a difference a lot (some decent number) of people want what is new, and will just upgrade to have the new version.

As a note - for me, the new safety components and the updated bolt assembly are the biggest updated features I am looking forward to.

The other cosmetic features I could care less about, and I agree for most people - no reason to switch over in any hurry. The AT-X is still the same exact rifle that excited us when it came out, so why discard it just because a few new features were introduced? If those features don't represent a problem your trying to solve, then keep the existing platform that is working for you well.

Anyone have the inside scope when the atx chassis for a Tikka will come to the States? I have seen picture of Tikka’s in England with them.

Euro previously said April but honestly who knows, especially now with the XC… doubt it’s super high on the priority list.

Been a while since I’ve been on here. Going to take the AT-X out to my first NRL Hunter match. Trying to make power factor was interesting because I don’t have a carbon 6.5 barrel so I threw on a 20” Proof Carbon .308 Win. But I can keep my ATACR 7-35x, Spuhr, Sent It level, Ckye Pod, and suppressor while making team weight. Will report back in two weeks with results.

Are there any downsides to not installing/using the plastic male and female catch pieces on the folding hinge kit? I have broken the one on my AXSR so if I don't need it on the ATX I will not install it.

On my AT or AX, the only downside is the butt won’t lock into place when folded. It can flop around. Not a big deal…when I used the aftermarket thumbrest for the AX I had to remove the catch pieces and it didn’t bother me.

My hinges are kinda stiff, which is what I want anyway.

But if you’re hi-speed and ripping the rifle out of the case asap and doing some shoulder-roll into cover, I suppose you could pinch your finger in there as it snaps shut accidentally. (Or heaven forbid, on your wee-wee lol I’d pay to see that).

Yea, my hinges are pretty stiff as well. Really don't move in the folded position unless I intentionally fold them back out.

What do I need to do to strip and lube bolt properly? Just hose it down with gun scrubber ?

New rifle with couple hundred rounds has smoother bolt than my multi thousand round one. Old rifle starting getting sticky after getting snowed on for a while at mkm match

I just wipe mine down with a rag and relube. Usually I don't take out the FP assembly, that's an every once in a while cleaning job.

Where did you get your AT-X wings?

Is that the Komodo Dragon? Just ordered one for a hunting/range bag hoping it would work - good to see someone else was thinking the same.

It's a mystery ranch 3 day assault pack I've had since 2015. I've used it as a glorified range bag since getting it, it's carried my crap to and around the range very well.

The komodo is alittle on the big side but still usable. I really dont notice much of a difference in feelt between my komodo and 3dap. Both will have plenty of storage for your needs

That was my dilemma. My only holdback was that I’m one of those guys that if I have the space, it’s getting filled. Time will tell.

The hinges have been popping up in stock fairly frequently. I'd suggest just pre-ordering one thru milehighshooting.com. They are a distributor and probably one of the first to get shipments in when they do runs of them.

I think I did pretty well. $3430 shipped.
Yeh I would say you did real well. They retailed for $5200.
They were on sale for $4200 new.
You beat that shipped.
Put the rest on another barrel from win tac.
Mine was in 6.5 creedmoor and consistently shoots 1/2moa or less depending on conditions. I shoot norma golden target ammo which is cheaper match ammo but it bug holes. I like the heavier legacy action. I bought a bartlein and a proof .308 barrel for a shoot off and they shoot the same accuracy wise for me.
I would not buy the at-xc over the at-x. I just don’t feel there is enough to justify it for me. Definitely not for $6500 good luck I know you will love the accuracy.
