AICS - Thinner Adjustable Comb?

I've done some searching and haven't come up with anything, but I'm wondering if any of you guys are aware of the thinner version of the adjustable comb for an AICS stock? Or any tips or tricks for taking some of the height out?

I recently put my 700PSS under a 1.5 and love it, but I'm still not getting that perfect cheek weld and sight picture combination. With the comb all the way down it's just a hair too tall. With the comb removed, it's well too short.

Thanks!!

Re: AICS - Thinner Adjustable Comb?

I did all of this in the wrong order... if I'd have known that I'd need to get higher rings I'd have gone with the 5.5-22x56 NF instead of the 50.

Thanks for the input guys. I already have a 20 MOA base, and again it's really very close. I'll work with it as is for a little while and move to higher rings if/when it becomes necessary.

If I was convinced that there was enough mass in the plastic comb, and wasn't afraid to ruin it completely, I might consider trying to find a way to shave it down.

Belt Sander? I've heard the same complaint from a number of guys. I'm kinda supprised someone with the ablility to make parts hasn't come up with something for these yet.

Hmm... not a bad idea. Better look up the cost of a replacement first, but that may actually work.

I'm surprised as well that someone with some fabrication experience hasn't tackled this one. The part could actually be filled in and then reduced to a variety of sizes. At that point it may be just as easy to make an aftermarket part. There's not much to this thing.

I've got an email out to AICS directly, but I'm not too hopeful that they'll have a solution to this one.

Re: AICS - Thinner Adjustable Comb?

It's a long story but I made a "cheek piece" for an AI stock that I converted to a 1.5 from a 1.0.. it took all of an hour and is lower than the standard.. if your interested in a swap mine for yours drop me a PM... I'm looking for a standard AICS one now..

You can see it in this pic.
