Re: America's "Top Shot" on History channel

Oh mate, I have no clue how denny made it this far...

Hang on lets let at this a little more.

1) He is a cowboy
2) He specialises in what... cowboy guns!
3) He f'ed up the first cowboy themed challenge by missing almost everything he shot at
4) He then f's up the second cowboy episode that included trick shooting with guns he should be familiar with
5) Proven two times to fail at what hes supposed to be the best at, yet his shitty red team repeatedly hangs up Kelly on the cross

Load of shit... I wouldnt be suprised if Kelly at the next elimination turns around and just shoots everyone in the face!

You better believe it, I would play that game as well. I gotta get my 15 minutes of fame (or infamous) time in somehow!! And the cash would be an awesome little prize to boot!! Largely spent on guns and ammo of course.

Re: America's "Top Shot" on History channel

Z71 -- it says $100K in *prizes*, not cash! Hell, it could be beef jerky, mens body wash, or god only knows what. Everything but cash I'd bet!

$100,000 worth of sponsored prizes would be doable. i'm sure the prizes are sweet no matter what, hell i can sell $100,00 worth of beef jerky for $50,000, which is more than i had before.

endorsements is what this is really all about. imagine the winner endorsing the new *enter manufacturer here* mdl__?__rifle, or only "a top shot like such and such uses so and so's ammo - and so should you".

i'll tell ya what the prizes are after i win top shot season 2

Yeah I am not getting the match-ups on that either.

Re: America's "Top Shot" on History channel

They don't do good enough a job of producing the shooting segments -- there's never any sense of how incredibly difficult the shot might really be -- to get me past the Nancy-boy drama.

Re: America's "Top Shot" on History channel

One of this week's challenges will be replicating a shot I made last night. Shooting a fly out of mid air with a nerf gun. Contestants will get 5 nerf darts. If they miss 5 times in a row, they will have to walk on their heads back to the start line, pick up 5 new darts, then cartwheel back to the shooting line. The person with the slowest time will be eliminated.

An unnamed contestant is quoted with saying "Finally, something I am familiar with"

Re: America's "Top Shot" on History channel

That was really one of the best episodes as far as shooting is concerned. I hated to see Kelly go home though, I picked him or Chris to win it all.

Re: America's "Top Shot" on History channel

I could care less, I set it to dvr and watched the first couple of episodes. Its like watching real world, bunch of whiney bitches doing stupid shit. Top shot are you kidding me. Top shot out of that bunch of Jackwads maybe. That is a dumb ass show. I would rather watch olympic curling.

Yes it is finally getting good. Looks like next week there are going to have a shootoff. My money is on JJ to win.

Re: America's "Top Shot" on History channel

I missed tonight's episode, but my wife really likes the show so I am sure we'll watch the recording tomorrow. It's kinda boring to me, but anything I can do to interest her in my hobbies (therefore let me spend more time & money doing them) I will do.

JJ is really good, and adaptable. Chris is gonna be hard to beat though. He's humble on the show, but he knows his chances look good. It's almost like he can just will himself to do what he has to, and it happens..........the Force is strong in that one lol.

He doesn't need any sources..........he can smell his own.

Re: America's "Top Shot" on History channel

I met Kelly at an IDPA match in Washington. If you just look at him you wouldn't think he knows anything about shooting. Really surprised me. He did quite well too, for his first match.

Re: America's "Top Shot" on History channel

I was just bein a tard, my apologies. I do however stick to the fact that Colby is a douche, he tries too damned hard to sound cool. Kelley seems to actually be going places if he sticks to it and doesnt get a some chick knocked up in college, drop out of school and sell his guns for diapers, just sayin

Re: America's "Top Shot" on History channel

Colby is a world class douchebag for sure.....he needs to have his eyes beat out of his head. We all know you were bein a tard....had to rib ya for it though lol.

Re: America's "Top Shot" on History channel

The show is what it is. It is getting people intrested in shooting that have not been interested in it before. Anything that can grow the sport is a good thing in my opinion. Reality shows arnt really my thing but this show does good for the shooting sports.

Re: America's "Top Shot" on History channel

Yeah, a whole season of setting em up and knockin em down would have quickened the pace and made it easier to watch. Everybody should have to compete every episode, no sitting out because the teams were uneven.... take some of the politics out of it. I hope they rethink some things for Season 2.

Re: America's "Top Shot" on History channel

ya know, not to sound like a badass, which i am, but NONE of the shooting with FIREARMS looked tough at all in any of the events, only when they were using oddball things would it be possibly challenging, don't know how well i can shoot a trebuchet and all.

Re: America's "Top Shot" on History channel

I think the only thing so far that was especially challenging was shooting the fuse to stop it. Trying to cut it in the time the fuse was burning down with the wind blowing the smoke in front of it using a gun they hadn't shot prior to that. I think that would be tough, especially going in cold, no practice. I'm gonna say the knife throwing is also ouside my skillset, lol.

Re: America's "Top Shot" on History channel

agree with both^^^^

i was going to put in for season 2, the catch is you have to be available for about a month and a half if you make the final cut.

i hate to risk my cushy decent paying job for that (if i was to make it), especially if one of the challenges was spitwad shooting or something like the out of the box stuff they were coming up with.

bolt + semi rifles and pistols, muzzleloaders, bows and crossbows i can see, but knives and slingshots - WTF? might as well pitch horseshoes, then get voted off because you didn't get a ringer.

Too much of it seems to be based on luck so "Top Shot" eh... maybe call it "Lucky shot"

Re: America's "Top Shot" on History channel

I got a call back from a casting producer, but after realizing I would need to take off something like 37 days.....well, that kind of ended it for me!

Re: America's "Top Shot" on History channel

Cool that you got a call back!

I can relate..... I have had several people text, call, and tell me to apply, but its just not possible when you own a side business. Taking that much vactation time from work would cost me several thousand bucks.

Reality shows are a big racket. They dont compensate you for your time to be there, yet they get all the advertising revenue.

Re: America's "Top Shot" on History channel

i got called and they said, and I quote "sorry sir but your really too badass for our show, we are lookin for those backyard snipers, thanks for your application though"

Re: America's "Top Shot" on History channel

I would hope that for season 2 they learned a little bit about what peopel like. Start out with 50 People and do a mass elimination of at least half. With a stage like they had last night a mix of everything. I am going to have to buy some fuse and try that out. Looked like a challenge.

Re: America's "Top Shot" on History channel

Its seems like some of the "really, really good" shooters, the guys that kick the rest of our asses consistently at the comps. like Matt Burkett, (BTW, congrats Matt for your appearance on the pistol episode), get the slots for "experts" to spot train the shooters.

Re: America's "Top Shot" on History channel

I kinda was hoping that the Kelly kid was going to last to the final. But that kid has bad luck with the drawings. Seem like every time they drew a name. Kellys name was always first. WTF. For the age of the kid. He held his own.
