We beat it to death and I swear I never truely got a straight answer. So here is my answer with pics and measurments.

With these measurments you can cut up an AI mount to fit an S&B 12-50x56.

Depth of cut is .053. This will allow a feeler gauge of .013 to slide between the mount and scope once torqued in place.

These measuremnts will allow the bell of the scope to come in contact with teh front ring when the scope is pushed as far rearward as the cut allows.

I am not a fan of the rings contacting the erector housing as I have a mental condtion that makes me feel th erecoil will jack something up. The cut allows clearance so tha the erector is no where near the front ring whne the scope is pushed as far forward as the cut allows.

Good work. It was a little vague when I had to have mine done (5-25) but the machinist got it right, so no complaints here.

I have a number of AIAW and AIWM's. I use the 5-25 Schmidt and Bender. I use exclusivley the AIAW scope mounts 18 & 28 MOA cant. I mill .060 off the AIAW scope mount to make room for the body of the S&B. I can see light between the scope body and the top of the scope mount so they are not touching. I can also fit a feeler gauge in there.

Looks a little better than the NF Unimount I just dremelled and filed to fit a USO SN3......

Thank you for posting the measurements for posterity.

I finally got around to modifying the mount for my new AIAWM. It is a 18 minute cant AI mount. I milled .060 off the mount to allow for the body of the scope as previously stated. I use a picatinney rail to keep the clamp straight and it also makes it easy to grab the base of the picatinney rail and hold the scope mount in the vice while it is being milled. These are the dimensions that I use on my mounts.
