Suppressors Anyone use Bowers suppressor covers?

they work...but ugly as shit....

Yep^^^

I have one, and works just fine... especially if your dumping mags, lol!

When the cover gets hot it'll slip forward from a couple of shots as there is no extra retention, and with that said it makes it easy to slip off the can to help cool.

The cool features (I guess you can call it that) is it's made out of silicone of some sort that takes extremely high heat temperatures pretty well. It also won't soak up moisture if you shoot in bad weather, but it is ugly....

You sure won't be paying for beauty, but you'll be paying for some cool functions with this one.

Here's mine:

I swap the can around between this rifle and a AKS 74U

When I read this on my phone this morning all I caught was a portion of the title: "Anyone use Bowers suppressors..." followed by:

They are ugly as sin, the do work but the one I had kept creeping forward as it got hot. Eventually it got so loose I had to throw it away.

I was like  which quickly became .

A lot less alarming discussion when I read the whole thread and saw the link. Apparently my grade school reading teachers were right - context is important.

So do they prevent heat raising up from the suppressor and causing a mirage effect in the scope?

Absolutely. Even when the suppressor is hot enough to instantly singe the skin off your hands, the cover stays cool enough to easily take the suppressor off, and there is no mirage. I like mine, and have not had problems with it slipping off unless I want it to, but I use it on an AAC Cyclone, which has the raised "flutes" that may help to hold it on a bit better.

My concerns with it are:

1. Is it holding in enough heat to damage the suppressor with sustained fire?
2. It adds 5 oz, and when you pay a premium to reduce weight by a few ounces, those 5 oz are quite a bit on the end of an already heavy rifle.
3. Yes, it is in fact ugly as sin.

It's a different ball game from full auto's to precision rifles..... I agree with ddavis. I was concerned they worked to well and held to much heat in. That can destroy a can just as fast as FA dumps thru it.
And 5oz in the suppressor world is a lot of weight to consider. 5oz is the difference between a Ti suppressor and the YHM stainless phantoms!

While I do not shoot with mine on anymore, I am still grateful I have it. I use it to grip the can so I can unscrew it to switch between a couple of different rifles. I realize there are other devices that accomplish the same thing, but for how little the Bowers cost, it was worth it to me.
