Oh yes there is and it's usually self inflicted!

I like to use both separately or combined depending on the situation.

Stubborn (skeptical and/or refusing to accept what may be more obvious) = Personality Trait, personality is hard to change without intensive psychotherapy.

Stupid (low iq and/or lack of knowledge) = Low IQ is generally speaking an immutable characteristic, but can be overcome with repetition of tasks and significant hands on training.

So in the end they are very similar, but the stupid label has a bit more nuance depending on what definition you are using.
