Guys

Just got word over here that I passed my Professional Deer Stalking Permit. In order to hold my stalking rights I'm going to have to reach my cull target . Was talking with my buddy who's setting me up on his old lease - rock solid guy - hes getting on and would like to see me get going , so he was having one of those infomercial conversations with me the other day and he reckons I should buy a shepherd scope - did some reci and lot of split opinion - so that funnelled me on to the ART M-1200 6-24X50mm Computer Tactical Sniper Scope.

Guys Ive no problems with not being a sniper I'm not. Im a stalker and I have real good time for all the good guys and gals on this forum who are Snipers and competitive shots I'm a married guy with a young family and I'm going to have to make my stalking pay back. Moneys tight so can any one whos got good advice pleas give me advice ever word will save me dollars.

Jonny

PS Any one reading this who had an hand in revamping the site well done its turning into a school of excellence.

My 2 cents but that seems like a lot of magnification for shooting deer but maybe not... seems like alot of people got with 3x - 10x for hunting deer - unless you plan on shooting them at 800 - 1200 yrds away maybe??? I admit, the ART is cool with the CAM system and range finding! I don't know but what about a Nikon with the rangefinder built in? probably pretty expensive though. I haven't heard great things about the shepherd scope, although they used one (or at least the reticle of one) on an episode of the "Unit" this last year on top of what looked like a AI or AI chassis rifle.

Thanks cyrekzz
ART M-1200 is fitting my wallet , I think this scope is used by USMC as a training unit and by all accounts is adjustable to the round that you shoot. I send 6.5 x 55 (.264) 140 grain Hornady A-MAX hand loads to the work place and , the work is clean and efficient.
The problem I'm going to have this year is the rate of work and the various locations (Distance).

Now I might be wrong about the USMC using them and i apologizes if I am but I firmly believe that if it used as a combat instrument it has to be tough and efficient.

And thanks fo getting back to me on it.

yeah - i looked at that scope as well - i don't think i could afford it... but from what i understand from their sight, it's been in use since vietnam?! If you're going to be ranging alot at different distances - that system is nice for sure. I guess you'll have a pretty clear picture of a deer at about 100 yrds too! Has anyone ever found how well they keep zero?
