Hoping someone can assist...

I have a Stiller Tac 300 300 win mag installed in an AX Chasis that is having difficulty feeding the last round in the magazine. As the bolt pushes the last round in the magazine forward and it begins to climb the feed ramp, the rear of the round is forced down by the leverage of the projectile moving up the feed ramp. This in turn causes the rear of the round to drop below the bolt and allows the bolt to override the base, causing a failure to feed.

Any ideas on how to address this? Its obviously a magazine issue but lookint at the mag, the feed lips dont look like they have much taper front to rear and modifying them isn't going to make a mountain of difference...

Ideas?

Re: AX Chasis Problem

Adjusting the feed lips to present the round in a more nose up position should solve your problem. Brownells sells a tool made by H-S Precision that's handy to have. It covers the entire legth of the feed lips and makes it an easy adjustment. All that's needed is to slighty increase the heigth of feed lips on the front end. It won't take much.

Re: AX Chasis Problem

Possible worn/bad magazine spring? Of course a quick test is to pull the mag apart, stretch the spring and see it that solves the problem. Often you can adjust the spring to alter the follower angle too, just a couple ideas.

The Chasis is New, just installed.

Feeds the first 4 rounds perfectly, just not the last one.

Re: AX Chasis Problem

To check if the mag catch slot is not cut in the right position, just push up on the mag while running the bolt. If it feeds then send the mag back and ask for a new one. Sig has the same issues. But sounds like it could be spring tension if it feeds the first few rounds good and not the last. Don't touch the lips until u have ruled out the spring. Go to a gun shop and ask if you can use their may spring or stretch urs out then try it. And make sure the follower is correct and doesn't have any damage or ismt cracked
