I am not trying to start anything but I personally believe the stock/chassis design of the AXMC and AT is the weakest part of an AI rifle.

I think the improvements made on the new ASR / AXSR chassis were spot on. M-LOK, improved buttpad/cheekweld and best of all.....a one piece grip. The old clam shell style grips and forend left much to be desired. The seams never matched up very well and after you drop +$1k for a Chassis or +$4k for a rifle, you expect a certain level of QC.

Anyone hearing rumors around a r700 compatible AXSR chassis? Would like to grab one for my defiance action some day.

Wow, I really like the AX chassis systems as they currently are. I looked at the new AXSR and I'm still not sure what the major improvements are. The changes may be more easily seen during actual use! The major difference to me looked to be in the grip, bolt, and ambidextrous safety. While the buttstock looks different, the ergonomics don't appear to have changed in a substantial way. Overall I got the impression that the differences were minor tweaks to meet military requirements more than a major overhaul/redesign.

The AX chassis is so good currently at ergonomics and adjustability that any improvements are bound to be minor. If AI decides to offer the SR as a chassis, the only changes they could incorporate would be in the grip and buttstock portions - which sounds like your favorite parts anyway. I guess the fore end being M-lok could also be added but doesn't really add functionality that isn't already there in a different format.

Yea guess I’m not sure where there have been major improvements as well other than slight mods to cater to the contract requirements. Which none I personally really care about. AIs own keyslot system is robust and other than needing to be the same throughout all platforms I see no real improvement. With the AI rifle system and adjustable trigger reach it makes the grip another non issue for me (fully understanding that the chassis buyers don’t get this luxury). As long as I have a flatter and halfway straight grip I can achieve my desired feel. Personally I think if you’re that picky about how a grip feels in your palm you’re focusing on the wrong aspects of shooting, but I understand not everyone is the same. Victor Company, HRD, RRS, etc have taken care of any dovetail needs.

This is probably true. ???

Nonetheless, it bugs me. Hence why I don’t own one. I really like the new chassis though.

I guess the answer to my question is “no” or “not yet”.

Am I seeing this correctly. Was this middle chassis, a chassis for say a Rem700 footprint action. I really hope so. I’d love one for my Archimedes 300PRC build later this year.

None of those are complete AI rifles. They're two chassis with an action in it (looks to be a 700 footprint) and an empty chassis.

Only downside is your back at a R700 safety instead of ambi.

That’s what I’m after. I had an AX chassis a long time ago. Loved it, but hated the grip. The sr chassis uses a ergo ar15 grip. Not worried about an ambi saftey

And you probably still will find a reason to complain and not buy one. ;) I own an AT in a Defiance and have no issues with the grip nor AI Keyslot. I honestly think the Mlok is overrated and realize AI is doing this strictly for gov contracts.

I have an AXSA. I love the design and don't really care for any of the new upgrades. I hate mlok. Like many, I initially didn't care for the grip. So I put a hogue sig p320 grip sleeve on it and now it's one of my favorite grips. I have a friend that did the same. Seriously, at $12-$15, you guys should try it. The new stock looks less robust and would seem to snag much easier with that open throat. Maybe good for herding sheep. Lol. The mid position ARCA is nice but can be easily added to current rifles. Still, the new asr design has some very nice internal upgrades.
