Berger 6.5mm 156g EOL, 153.5g LRHT, & 144g LRHT Load Data for 6.5 PRC

I should add a couple of things to my post above...

65*F 70% 900'elev

The 153.5 LRHT has enough nose length variance that 2.965 COAL will result in a few rounds that completely impede reliable feeding in my short action Accurate Mag. They all fit, but those few will bind if they tip once they've slid forward. Hopefully 2.950 COAL feeds reliably.

@H&H Precision Outdoors all of these loads are >95% fill, so I'm not worried about burn efficiency. If I feel like I'm having issues, I'll switch to 215M. I'll have to look at my GRT file to see where the actual fill % is though

@Rocketmandb @Rio Precision Gunworks maybe you guys know about this
215m might give you better results like your looking for, and I plan to run 215's in mine to start. Also with the 153.5 LRHT, according to Berger their seeing 56.1g's of H1000 to be the Max Load giving them around 2883 FPS.

N568 is - 2943 fps
N570 is - 2981 fps

Your barrel is 24 or 26"?

Forgot to add that... I'll add above too

25" CFW 1:8.25-7.5" left hand gain twist, 25rds on barrel @ start

Pretty happy with the velocities so far, given the barrel will probably speed up. Using the 210Ms because SDs are more important to me than velocity. Not making any conclusions until barrel is sped up & the brass is on it's second firing. I will probably give some VV a shot though.

This is essentially doing the same thing as using a drop tube and/or tapping a charged case on the bench top to make the powder settle. There should be no detriment to doing what you're talking about - hell, I do that at the range when I do seating depth development - it's just that it's a more pronounced extra step that takes time.

Barrel has gained a ton of speed and seems to be gaining more. Shot in 71*F today. The slower string was shot before we took a break for lunch and the faster string was after lunch. Last range trip it was 3010 in 60*F weather. I expected H1000 to be a bit more temp stable.

I may back the charge down a bit. I wish the SD was a bit better, but 10 isn’t awful. I got good hits on steel out to 1600 yards before the wind went nuts.

28” Bartlein with 250rds on it after today
58.0gr of H1000
2.950-2.960” COAL
153.5gr Hybrid

I actually started my process with my 6.5 PRC. Shot 90 rounds this past Thursday, and have an average velocity out of 13 rounds of 2775.6 fps, & today I sent another 50 down the pipe, & my barrel has finally sped up!

Your results are quite a bit faster than what I'm getting. Maybe my barrel will speed up too, right now it's about 80fps lower than your first outing.

This seems quite hot of a load? Any pressure signs?

Nope. Primers look fine and all my bolt lifts have been easy. I tested all the way up to 59.0gr without issue! I was able to find load data for the 153.5 A tip and that listed a max charge of 57.5gr for H1000.

Here is some of the brass from today:

Hopefully I get a chance to test on an 80* or 90* day before I use the rifle at a match. As I said, I may back the charge down a bit. 3000 FPS was my goal and between the 100 to 200 round count the barrel gained over 50 fps.

What action are you running? Looks like a big horn or one with mechanical ejection. Looks like ejector slot marks on edge of primers and brass. If so, that is a warm load, very near or over max. I have run a similar load and it was right at max. I have since backed down to 2955 with 57.4 of Retumbo.

I sent 140 rounds down mine over the last 4 days. The barrel was brand new, and did a minor break in procedure during this process.

What's your round count on that barrel?
