Building a backstop

Im building a backstop for my 22lr rifle. I shoot at exactly 100 meters. And 99.99999% of the time Im shooting subsonics. Maybe once every 3 or 4 years I might use a few mags of some federal bulk ammo (which is supersonic).

So whats the best way to build up a backstop. I reckon at 100 meters with subs it shouldnt take too much to stop them. By the way, building a hill from sand/dirt isnt much of an option.

Ideally I need something that wouldnt be hard on the eye either (the other half loves the garden, and I'll never have peace if theres a huge monstrosity at the bottom of it)

Most folks use a backhoe or what not and dig a hole, pile the dirt up in front if the hole . In my parts a dump truck load of dirt (22) yards. Is only about $160.00. Stacks of cord wood work pretty well.

Yeah rent a piece of equipment. Have some fun, dig some shit up. Then you can shoot more than 22lr into it. Be sure to call the Sherriffs department if your close to other people that aren't fond of weapons. They will come and bless your berm and deem it safe so if somebody bitches it doesn't matter.

If you can't build a berm backstop, maybe look at getting a piece of steel plate, and putting it at less than 45 degree angle... so bullets are deflected DOWN into a layer of sand.
Being able to collect your lead to sell as scrap is a win-win.
1/4" would do just fine for .22, but 1" at a low angle, and you're good for most centerfire if you use AR or T1 plate.
