So, I decided to stop by one of my local big boxes on the way to work today... I'm the annoying customer that stops in often just to look through whatever happens to be behind the shelves and compare things... even when im not intent to purchase that day, or what um looking at for that matter.
Anyway, they had a few new (for the store) products in today that I took a look at. First thing I asked to see was the Burris Tac 30; I had heard some decent things but wasn't expecting much. First, the glass was surprisingly nice, a much more polished look than I anticipated. Damn batteries were dead and didn't feel like waiting for the young clerk to find replacement, so I was unable to see its illumination.
*On to the strange part... As I was holding the piece up I immediately noticed that something was wrong on its 1x setting. I adjusted the eye piece and realized the magnification had changed due to the diopter being stiffer and as it is one unit, they both turned simultaneously.
I thought I had caught the issue but after returning to 1x the image appeared magnified to at least 1.5x... I don't believe that it was close enough to actually call a 1x by any stretch. This may have very well have been a defect only specific to this display model. (And,Yes the mag level lined up with its magnification number, it wasn't stuck or anything of that nature) I did show this to another employee behind the counter who also noticed it. Curious if anyone else has seen this who has either looked through
