My next big purchase is going to be a 50. Im choosing between an AX50 and the Cadex CDX50. I haven’t shot either yet, but I do own rifles by both companies and both are excellent.

Just wanted to see if others have hands on experience with the Cadex 50. There aren’t many online reviews or write ups out there for it and there are a ton for the AX50. Thanks in advance.

I've handled both. The Cadex rep was kind enough to meet me and gave a complete rundown of their product. I was able to handle his demo rifle extensively, and I was all set to order one during the SHOT show promotion. However, while waiting for January 2 to roll around an AX50 presented itself at a price I could not refuse.

Both manufacturers utilize Bartlein as their .50 barrel supplier, both have similarly functional rail systems, same magazine capacity, and the trigger feel was virtually identical. The AX bolt is slightly easier to manipulate, but the Cadex brake is a bit more effective - outside of that pretty much equal.

Truthfully though I feel you would be happy with either one based on my experience. I was all set to order the Cadex due to the slight price advantage. When that difference evaporated, I went with the most cost effective option. To be honest though, I bought it as a fun toy. It's not likely to be fired more than a few hundred rounds a year so my criteria might not apply to your intended use.

Anyway, hope this helps somewhat.

Thank you for the input. Your input definitely applies, because I'm purchasing one for the same reasons as you. I'm a desk jockey by trade, but like shooting long distances. Been wanting a .50 for a long time and figure now is as good a time as any to get one.

I've handled both a bit in person, but never fired either of them. I'll likely end up in the same boat as you and will (even though at those dollar amounts the price isn't that important a factor) get the one I find a better deal on.

Any additional input is appreciated.
