I got this off another website. my mind thinks otherwise but here is for wishful thinking. here goes.
As long as you got the correct size GB for the barrel, I guess .750 in your case, it will work fine. DPMS uses standard AR15 gas tubes on their 308 rifles. The gas port on every GB I've ever installed was bigger than the port in the barrel, otherwise you would have a hell of a time trying to line it up perfectly.
this is correct.. another poster miss stated that the gas port size or the gas block and barrel gas hole must be exact match.. this is absolutely wrong.. if they were exact match.. you would have a hell of a time trying to line it up. the gas tube hole is always bigger than the gas hole in the barrel.. while the gas hole size on the barrel is very important, gas block hole only needs to be bigger then the gas hole on the barrel to make sure proper amount of gas is transferred in the gas system.
given that DPMS tube for 308 is same as the 5.56.. and the barrel is a 308 barrel with proper gas hole.. the gas block should work fine.
btw.. i test the gas hole in the gas block thing. i had a gas block hole bored out to about 3/8" and the gun functioned fine for few thousand rounds (i replace it with a different gas block since for other reason.. low profile).. one thing you have to be careful is that if the hole in the gas block is TOO BIG.. there maybe excessive gas leak.. which is bad.
i want to make it clear that this is only true if the DPMS 308 in fact uses the same gas tube.
