Car alarms

I just bought a 2021 charger and to say they get stolen a lot is an understatement. Does anyone have any first hand experience with "car alarms" for newer cars?

Do they all come with GPS modules now? Does that mean a subscription for service??

The best thing you can do is have good insurance. All car alarms are kinda a joke and are more annoying than helpful.

Battery/ignition disconnect switches will help with the joyriders.
Nothing beats a pro though. They'll just haul it off and have it inside a steel container quicker than you'll be looking for it.

Never in the history of car alarms has anyone beyond the car's owner paid any attention to a car alarm going off. As pointed out above, they're just annoying. Good insurance and possibly an Apple AirTag hidden somewhere on the car if you feel like tracking your stolen car. I personally wouldn't want my stolen car back and could only hope it disappears forever only for the insurance to give me a check to get another. Also, avoid buying cars that are either stolen frequently or are easy to steal. You'll cover your deductible for the price of a good alarm and AirTags are like four for $79. You could hide multiples in the car in hopes they don't find all of them.

A block of C4 in the trunk with a remote detonator....... that way it will be totalled and you don't have to worry about the thieves again.

I did a LoJack in one of my cars. I've also had full car alarms as well. I even had a "Clifford" Alarm that had the "remote starter" in it. I used to scare a bunch of people with that...

But yeah, I think alarms (at least the noise part) is totally ignored, these days and considered a nuisance by most. I'd prefer a device that emails/texts you when the car is being moved. Of course, I don't own a car right now, so no difference to me, but....

I don't want it to make noise I want it to disable the vehicle. GPS tracking seems like something reasonable, I wasn't aware there were devices to locate those. Which is why I'm asking....
