I got invited to go deer hunting in SC next week. I'm not sure exactly where, they said is about one hour from Charlotte. I beleave we will be stand hunting. The question is which rifle should I bring? 1-GA 308 18 inch barrel with hensoldt 4-16x56.
2- POF 308 16 inch barrel with S&B 3-12x50. 3-Browning BLR 300 wsm 22 inch with S&B 1.1-4x20 short dot. Thanks in advance for the input.

Don't take this wrong. I'm not being a jerk. I just don't understand how/why you've outfitted those rifles with those optics.

My suggestion would be the GA 18inch 308 with the short dot. That would be the right scope with the right rifle. At least for here.

My first stand this AM had a 250yd shot and my second this PM a 40yd one.

I set the gap up for tactical comps and precision rifle classes. I just purchased the browning for my all-purpose hunting rifle wich I ordered a sworoski 1.7-10x42 but it won't be here until late next week. I'm pretty confident with the gap, but I thought the browning temp set up is a lighter more appropriate hunting rig.

While the BLR may weigh less, I think the cartridge is overkill for this use. You just don't need that much power, and you're not going to be able to shoot far enough to make it beneficial.

I'm slaughtering them with a .223ai, a 45acp encore, and a .243.

The lighter, easily handled rifle is the best way to go. You might shoot up to 350 yards, but chances are better than good you'll keep them under 100.

If you get a shot, don't hurry to see it run, take your time to note which direction it went, listen for the crash, etc.
