Don't really get it why the warranty is 5 years. Just curious if there are any happy Falcon customers here? I understand it's not a Nightforce though, lol. How is repeatability and tracking? Clarity and longevity? Thanks.

Re: Falcon Menace. Any luck with those???

Bought one 3 or so years ago when they were the only inexpensive FFP around. Still have it, but it's not impressive. The glass is far outclassed by my hunting scope, a Vortex Diamondback. The eyebox is VERY touchy and unforgiving, and the tracking isn't spot on either. It is repeatable, but not exactly .1 mils when tested. It has held and returned to zero since purchased, no complaints on durability with mine.

The short answer given above is the best to-the-point response you could ask for: get something else. It's a decent scope with cool features, but there are better choices out there for not mch more money.

EDIT: I don't have my 4-14FFP mounted anymore, so it had been awhile since I looked at it when I wrote the above. Dusting it off, I'll take back the statement that it's "outclassed" by my Diamondback. Looking through both, The Falcon is clearer from edge to edge, and resolves better. However, the Falcon is not as bright, and in comparison seems dark versus other scopes. The eyebox IS touchy, I stand by that. Just trying to clear up my statements for people considering a Falcon.

Had one for a couple of months, it broke and took 3 months to get another one.And when breaks, and you get a new one... Its still a Falcon. Get something else

I agree with the above posts. Save your money, and get something that is a little higher quality.

I have had mine for 2 years and really haven't had any problems with it, but like mentioned above it doesn't have the most forgiving eye box, and my 399.99 Zeiss Conquest 3-9 hunting scope has much better glass.

Wish I would have bought once and cried once.

Re: Falcon Menace. Any luck with those???

Wow , I must be one of the lucky ones then . Have a year and a half old 4 - 14 and has been an outstanding value . 2k + rounds on a bull AR . Tracks right on the money , have had it out to 600 and back and everything in between and all ways returns to zero .

Windage is a little off but returns to zero , not a deal breaker for me as I rather hold over .

Glass is great for a scope at this pricepoint . MUCH MUCH better than MY Vortex Diamondback , better than my brothers SS 16 fixed . I'm sure I'll get flamed for this , but at 10x its close to the clarity as my IOR 10 x 42 , but no where near the brightness or ' Pop '

Maybe I just got lucky and got a good one . May buy another just for a 22 trainer , Have been that happy with this one . Of coarse YMMV and I'm no expert

1) keep in mind that, depending on model, these are sub-400 dollar scopes

I have a 4-14 mil/mil. it has served me well. it is no longer on my primary rifle, but it still resides on a .308.

Keeping in mind statement number one, the glass is quite good. Is it as good as my IOR 3-18?
No, of course not, but it was less than 1/3rd the price.
They are not noted for low light performance, but mine is very clear and can resolve very well.
I cleaned the heavy grease off the orings with silicone spray and was rewarded with very distinct, crisp clicks.

They are STILL the most reasonably priced, reliable FFP mil/mil scopes out there.

Stay away from the BSA offering.

SWFA and Robert Snyder continue to carry the Falcon line.

If you want to test the waters of FFP without investing a lot of money, they are still a very viable alternative.
I will tell you this, if you can wait and save another 3 bills, the weaver ffp mil/mil scope is a far better scope.

If you look back about two years ago, the Falcon Menace was one of the favorites on this and other boards. They did have some QC issues and the precision rifle crowd tends to be an OCD bunch and quickly discard one optic/rifle/chambering for another newer/faster better one. It is the nature of the endeavor.

Lonewolf ran one for a long time and managed to win matches with it.

Re: Falcon Menace. Any luck with those???

I've had one for about 1 year, group buy for RWSnyder - 5-25 x 50 EMD... i have to say it's a pretty nice scope to get behind. The glass seems to be pretty damn good on mine. The eye relief is nice and up at 25x the scope is still easy to get behind, meaning it's not fussy. I had it on my 300 winmag and shot with it a few times. No issues. I now have a SS 5-20 but in all honesty, the falcon is easier to "mount" and look through at full power. Other than that, they're similar... at least to me.

A couple of things, 1) i found is i had to tighten the turret cap screws since i noticed they were a little loose when i was turning them. This was about 2 months ago and it was the 1st time i did it. I haven't had to do this since then. I'll see if they ever come loose.
2) When zoomed out i noticed a little tunnel vision, but nothing that i haven't seen in some other scopes with a high range of power.
3) Lowlight performance isn't awesome, but acceptable.

Even though i don't have mine mounted anymore, i still have mine as I believe it's a great scope (now my back up in case any of my scopes go awry). Haven't decided to sell... not sure if i will. For 450ish I don't think you can beat these. BTW, never looked through the 4-14 so i can't comment about that.

Re: Falcon Menace. Any luck with those???

Got it on a 223. Seems to track bang on, reticle is actually really good, glass is your typical chinese class, much like a leupold vx1, etc.

First round hits to 400 no problem, 720 I couldn't see where I was hitting.

Better to go with a nikon buckmasters (which I also have) better glass, better tracking, cheaper, but sfp.

Id rather the falcon than a mk4 though hahaha

Re: Falcon Menace. Any luck with those???

I have a 4-14x44 EMD and I love mine. tracks well and clear glass (for a scope in that price range) Mine has been on my precision AR for 1600rds no failures. This is one of my competition guns and it does great. I have run it from 10yds out to 1000yds and made hits. only bad thing is the magnification ring is a PITA to turn

that being said I have a 5-25x56 EMD being shipped as we speak for my 260 build.
