It was actually written by a guy named Bill Wilson and appeared online about a year ago on a site called The Daily Jot. I have no idea what its angle is. But the article was remarkably predictive.... of where things are now. And what seems to be driving these forces.

If your hypothesis is correct and one corrupt group of exploiters will be simply be replaced with another... then this totally negates my faith in the idea that a Constitutional Republic with a citizen legislature... can last and thrive. If we are simply destined to be ruled by a series of professional politicians, self-appointed Washington Royalists and, well, Oligarchs... then what are we really all about?
The cynic in me says you are probably, sadly, somewhat right. But the All-American Optimist in me has to go with the argument that the elimination of the forces of socialism, communism, progressivism -- the enemies of our Constitution -- will let The Founders' vision to continue to create our Shining City on a Hill.

Having been surrounded by Mexicans since forever, around election time til ~mid April it was all the rage to be in sheer panic about deportations/prison/death at the hands of racist white people. Maybe the untowards are starting to realize it's not quite as bad as telemundo told them it was.
A nice metric omitted by everyone, though, is how many folks, after having violated our laws, got captured. I'd wager that if we could see real stats, maybe crossings are up, but so, too, are apprehensions.

At 45, you don't have the experiences some of us 60-70 year olds have had so you believe you have more freedom. you see what your time on earth has allowed you to see through the lense of the propaganda machine.
You don't know what a few of us know or the freedoms we have lost. You haven't seen capital gains taxes rise and steal our long term investments, or inheritance taxes go up and steal our family farms, or environmentalists pass laws that prevent us from land use of our on property, or government taking our free use of public properties.
You don't remember doctors making house calls until regulations shut that down, you haven't seen other free enterprises regulated out of business, you haven't seen curb market selling of home grown products criminalized, or maybe you dont recognize it.
