Risking derision and ridicule, I am reaching out to help establish the backstory/history of my latest rifle. I am not a rifle historian, but I like to know more about the ones I have and this one looks very unique. I got what I believe to be a mid-20th century (ish) FN Mauser Sporter that was converted before I got it from .30-06 to .308Win. The serial number begins with "A1..." and its marked as a Belgian-made Interarms Import. The only mark I can find that resembles a proof is on the shoulder of the bolt handle. The barrel swap obviously removed the proofs that used to be there. I have received some feedback on other forums but I believe in using as many sources as possible to verify the most likely. Hopefully, this will tweak your interest and I will learn a lot about these old Mauser actions. See pics, please.
