Trying to decide if I want the Foretrex 701 and during research I have found 2 models, a Garmin # 010-01772-10 and a Garmin # 010-01772-11. The 11 is the Berry Compliant. Can not find what the physical differences are between the two other than the 10 comes with a strap. Pricing on Garmin site is the same $499.99 for either. Other sites list the 11 (Berry Compliant) as $100.00 more.

Is the 11 worth more than the 10? Can anyone enumerate the differences between the two?

Got in contact with Garmin, first I was informed that the difference between the 701 and 701 Berry Compliant was the AB software; then' they recanted and said only the strap was the difference.

To confuse matters more we have Applied Ballistics referring to the Garmin® Foretrex® 701 Ballistic Edition (GF701B) with a price of $599.99 yet Garmin lists both models at $499.99.

Still wondering, what is the difference?

Berry Compliant is referring to the requirement that certain materials used in products for sale to DoD be US sourced. Software shouldn't matter - but the material in the strap might.

Thanks. Yes, I've read the material on Berry. If the answer is the 2 are exactly the same except for the strap, then why would one want the Berry version? What is the GF701B?

Does anyone know if you can hook up a Kestrel to the 701? Have the Kestrel do wind stuff in the background on its tripod while u get the latest data on your wrist?

Or even better, have the Kestrel AND the kilo 3000 connected simultaneously?

Per Garmin Support Center Kilo 3000 BDX and Fortrex 701 can exchange data.
