Materials
Durability
Length Added
Mounting System
Factory Customer Service
Repeatable Accuracy
POI Shift
Versatility
Finish

IMO all those should factor in a suppressor decision. What's most important to you? Sound and weight are important to me, to others, it might not matter as much.

I am definitely going to be pushing the Sandstorm, it will get a work out and I will report back if the first round was a simple settling in shift that vanished or if it is something the can does on a regular basis

Sounds as well as POI. If it cost 200 more than another Ill pay it.

Really appreciate the review LL.

I am waiting on a form 4 for a Sandstorm, acquired with Gemtech's "Gemtax" offer. Definitely interested in similar or contrary experiences with that can.

Since it appeared the first round fired out of the rig at all went through the SS, I wonder if that CBS would have happened with any of the cans. A half MIL high doesn't seem right, especially when the others dropped right in there..... I'm not a can expert, but it just looks unusual to me to see a CBS that far away.

Understand this, the shots were the same for all the suppressors.

When I said cold bore, I meant cold can, the rifle was shot and zered prior to the suppressor shots

The only real cold rifle and cold can was the Surefire

Thanks for a comparsion video. Most people do not have that many cans in there collection to compare like that. I have the paper work for a shark in the system right now. It was really nice to see zero POI shift.

All the 'cans'<span style="font-style: italic"> sounded </span> good. Me thinks there would be minimal/insignificant difference's between the cans, if their internal volume were the same and the <span style="font-weight: bold"> can length the same!</span>

The last firing seemed to be a bit lounder.

then Gemtech, and the Shark on top by a <span style="color: #3366FF"><span style="text-decoration: underline"><span style="font-style: italic"><span style="font-weight: bold">HAIR</span></span></span></span>.

I attribute that <span style="font-weight: bold">hair</span> to the longer length thus more internal volume for sound reduction of the Shark.

In my thoughts if the GemTech and the Shark matched in length and internal volume... it wouuld be a near impossible task to choose the one with the most suppression.

Seems to me the only 'real' world difference is which one is affordable for me: do I want to spend my $$$ on a Vette with a 6 speaker, 5 speaker or 4 speaker Dolby system...

As for the POI...if I recall the Gemtech was fired for the 'first' time! Is it NOT possible that the first shot -a flyer- may be the result of newness? PLus I thought the group -after the flyer- between the GemTech and Shark: depended on if the wind was blowing at the time of the shot... thus actually moving the target...I means what's the difference between $.99 and $1.00...it appeared that close to the same size grouping.

I will just give my quick input on the Sandstorm. My first box of ammo letting the barrel and can cool then firing always resulted in a first round "wild shot". But after the can gets some fouling in it the groups settle in. I run mine on a GAP Hospitaller and its extremely accurate and functions great. Plus you can't beat the light weight.

When you clean your Sandstorm and fire cold again, do you get the same first round "wild shot". If so, combined with Lowlight's review and video, that is concerning. If it goes away with "break-in", then that's okay.

Well, first off. You are not supposed to clean a suppressor a whole lot. Especially on a bolt gun. I had about 400 rounds thru mine when I gave the rifle a detailed cleaning. I only blew out the can with a fitting on a compressor. Some loose carbon came out, but nothing breathtaking. I shot it just a few days ago and it easily shoots under a .5" group at 100. No more wild shots. They need a slight break in period, but after that they are like the ferrari of the suppressor world for a 308. I also have a Tigershark for my 300WM, its got to be one of the best cans I own for 300WM. Light, Quiet, and dissipates heat quickly.

I have three Gemtech's and three AWC'S along with one AAC 7.62SD Quick detach, personally unless you are in a tactical profession the thread-on hold groups better and seem a little quieter. Plus no loss of P.O.I., just depends on how cool you want to look at the range. D.I.L.L.I.G.A.F, Little ragged hole everytime is the key!!(same spot each time )

Does anyone know how much length does the Gemtech Sandstorm add to a barrel. Specs are listed at 7.8" O.A. length for suppressor. In other words what is the standard barrel thread length? 0.4"?

I had the same concern so I called Gemtech and was told: .60" is the recommended thread-shaft length; then I called GAP in KC MO because I have 2 VSSF's and GAP put their 'Brake' on both and I wondered about the thread-shaft lenght and Kary tole me .60". The reason I called: I took advantage's of GemTech tax offer.

I was putting $$$ away for a Shark because I wanted one can for my 30 cal rifles but the GemTech offer put a can w/in a more affordable reach of my ltd income so I will limit use of the Gem to no-mag rifles even-tho Gemtech and others said the Sandstorm can be used on a 30cal mag but not the Ultra-Mag.

I plan on -this will take some time to acquire the $$$- using the Sandstorm on the following rifles and the last one -i think- is gonna be a HOOT:

1) early model VSSF's in stainlss 308.
2) Rem 7600P/16", ASI will thread the barrel for me, Gemtech told me they can not thread the barrel on this rifle!
3) Marlin LTD stainlss 30-30/ heavy barrel, 16" thutty-thutty....here is the HOOT one...

I am intrigued with the idea of a suppressor on the PUMP 308 and the venerable 30-30...

I'd really like to have a suppressor on a lever action Marlin .22; the main drawback is reloading! The 'can' has to be removed to reload cause as you know the .22 tube is nearly as long as the barrel...

I wish you ass-holes would not have gotten me interested in Suppressors...ya'll a bunch of jerks..Just a word of warning to ya'll:

For the last few yrs I've been pump'n lot's of steel. Was hoping to reach a Bench press of 400 before my 63rd BD and be able to run a 10 minute mile. Well -BE GRATEFULL- towards the end of March, thru April and the 1st weekend in May of 09, I was hurting constantly and even my Arithis med's were not helping, nor booster pain killers 650 Tylenos 2 times a day brought no relief. So I have not lifted, nearly not at all, plus two operation's abdominal and two golf ball sized lumps near spine mid back have pretty much kept me away from the steel....

<span style="color: #3366FF"><span style="font-weight: bold">Be warned</span></span>....enuff time has passed and on the 1st of July....I'm back to it...so I'd suggest you increase your insurance policy or leave the country...cause I'm coming!!!

My sole purpose is to meet each of you, and whip your ass cause of this Suppressor obsession ya'll have caused...and to see you beaten and bloodied at my feet screaming Shark, GemTech, SAS....etc... will be my only relief from this scurge...

LIKE I SAID....I'M COMING....

Here are the only rules for our upcoming dance:

---If you are over 5.7" I get to stand on a box.
---You have to stand close w/o my trifocals I can not see cleary past 5 feet or so...

Your only chance is to damage my hearing aide's, even tho I may not see ya....I could still hear ya...and like a Cruise Missle sorta, I zero in on sound..

I am pretty sure that they do indeed make one although it is not listed on the web. IIRC it is called the HammerHead and did see it in a youtube video with David the owner of JDW Manufacturing aka Shark Suppressors firing it FA. His SN is 737SHARK here on the hide. Contact him and find out if you have not made a purchase yet.

I second the desire to see these compared to the SAS Arbiter! Was going to put the SAS Ti can on my SSG 69 PII but got distracted by the Surefire stuff. After seeing this I'm thinking of the SAS Arbiter again which is Ti. What is the surefire made of? Is it Ti?

SF is not Ti; also is your barrel on the SSG press/shrink fit or threaded? If it's not threaded you may reconsider putting on a can!
