When I was working nights in Syracuse NY back in '03/'04 I heard a live performance on one of the rock stations, a tribute to 9-11 I think that was a heavy metal band playing with a orchestra and choir. For the life of me I can't remember who it was, just that it was epic.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't Nightwish or Rhapsody of Fire, I want to say they had a male lead singer. My google-fu is pretty weak, does anyone have an idea of what group I'm talking about with what pittifully little details I have? lol Part of me is thinking Dimmu Borgir but I haven't found anything that really hits home.

I would be virtually certain it wasn't Dimmu, if that narrows the search. Not sure who it actually was though??

Was it called "Let's Roll"?

Re: Heavy Metal question

The only reason I was thinking of Dimmu was right about the time this was performed they had released their one album where they recorded a number of songs with the prague philharmonic orchestra.

Re: Heavy Metal question

Nope Frank, I distinctly remember a choir in addition to the orchestra, plus the lead singer had more of a growl, definitely more heavy metal as apposed to prog.

I will say this though, trying to find this music has opened up some pretty wild stuff on youtube.

Re: Heavy Metal question

The most obvious thought I had was Iced Earth - but there's no orchestra, etc., and no growler for a singer. You might dig the song anyway though:
