From a practical perspective, it's the same thing. If there were no taxes for this sort of safety net, old ladies (and men) dying in their own filth would happen much more often.

It's one thing when you talk McMillan stocks that are still mostly hand made ( although if you look at the McMillan videos on the net it seems they went from nearly all Mexican laborers to Chinese ones in newer vids) or mostly machined parts where cost is as much or more a factor of the machine cost and productivity as it is labor cost.

End of the day most of these companies you would parade as paying 'mericans' decent wages , offshore much of their product lineup overseas, being that optics, backpacks, bipods, tripods, electronics etc , just about everything that is not required to be made in US by the customer, in textile products you can see companies having exact same products Berry compliant for US Gov order and Chinese for rest , your average gun owner is all up into chinese gear, total and absolute 'poor' gearwhore .

I think you are missing something.

$17-18/hr is roughly $34,000-$36,000/year, 50 weeks, before taxes. If you offer paid vacation, those numbers go up slightly. After taxes, their take-home pay is in the $20,000 ballpark ($1666/month), depending what state they live in. Maybe couple thousand more/less, annually.

Man, that is nothing much to live on. Especially if you have kids, need a car, like to live inside, and have to eat.

China is not about cheap labor anymore, Mexico has been cheaper than China for a while even before tariffs , not to mention other really cheap popular offshoring countries like Vietnam or Philipines and India.
The price point difference in many products is not down in labor cost but whole industrial capability of theirs. And like mentioned low pay wages is not something you fill easily.The reality is you wouldn't really want most jobs the Chinese took unless you plan to settle couple dozen million more immigrants for cheap labor which seems to be Kameltoe Harris and the old demented puppets plan anyway.

So this went in a crazy direction. Lets start why all of our cheap stuff is made in China. Many other countries had their chance over the last 50 years. Salesmen in South America didn't enjoy getting kidnapped or worrying about it. Mexico well same thing, yeah Africa same deal, middle east go figure. Hint-Company executives can go to China stay in a 5* hotel and walk the streets at night. Oh and China gives zero shits about their environment. On this labor thing just over a year ago anyone that wanted a job had one. If you couldn't find work then that was on you. So last year we were operating at a phenominal clip. Quality labor was no easy thing to find. I lost 100k on a couple of idiots I hired that never learned to stay off their phones or care about the gig. Eliminate this market situation right now go back to pre wuhan flu and tell me how in the hell are we going to make all of things you guys are talking about when we had no labor force? Everyone was working that wanted or needed a job. Without this Virus we were staring down one of the greatest free market shifts in labor wages in the history of this country. Why was that going to happen? Supply and demand. I was paying idiots 50k a year just to have bodies on site. Thats how bad it was.

Now back to ops issue. I have a friend that sells on Amazon. He has a system of running an item for sale x amount of weeks and x amount of inventory to move and he is done. Said at first it was Chinese companies would rip off his items. Amazon evolved and moves in with their brands of clones. At first he was pissed but learned to work the system to not get caught with inventory. I personally would never spend 1600 bucks on a tripod, not a funds issue. I am too cheap so therefore their will be less quality markets for people like me. Do I need a clone, no. I need a shitty tripod to put binos or a spotter on and Im good. I feel for companies like RRS that cant fight the Amazons and copycats. What is the answer? I search for the items I am in need of and filter for Made in the USA, check the manufacturer and then go THAT website and search for the various options for purchase. Just discovered the bootleg version of the VYCE. Cheaper and looks similar, but a few dollars more for the RRS I THEN know it won't have durability issues and if needed they will warranty it. Can purchase the clone to save a few dollars and end up with a unusable version later when you need it the most, or possible that it might never have a problem but it's a gamble and money down the drain if it breaks.
