I have a friend who shoots a PS90 and keeps giving me his once-fired brass. I've been reloading for the last 10 years for 14 calibers but I have a little concern about the 5.7. I know they can be reloaded after a little research, but there seems to be concern over pressures and case stretching. Being such a small case, it will be a pain to handle and the powder charges are small which will require extra attention as to not exceed max.

My question isn't whether or not the 5.7 can be reloaded, but if there are too many risks to reload ammunition for my friend's gun. On a good day, 5.7 ammo is over 50 cents a round and my buddy is looking for an alternative to 25 bucks everytime he loads the PS90 mag.

    Yes.

Consider it a reloadable .22 Magnum. Once you wrap your head around that, it becomes asinine to not reload it.

Also, get some 5.7 dies for your 550 and you will be in business.

You will also open up bullet varieties and possibilities that do not exist in factory offerings.

I do all my loading with a Hornady single stage press and RCBS dies. The progressives just freak me out a little with so much going on. What's your thoughts on case prep with those laquer coated cases? Some guys clean with a detergent and say to stay away from dry media and a tumbler.

you need to keep the lacker on the case or the friction will jam the rounds in the mag where they do the turn, ask me how I know.
I have loaded thousands and thousands of 5,7 on my dillon 550 without any problems, so quit freaking out bud.
true blue is the powder used in factory ammo and you can bump it up a lot.
    hope this helps.

develope your 5.7 loads so they barely cycle the action. Maybe to the point where you get a few FTF or extract issues every now and again. Probably use a powder that will result in the least compression possible. Shoot the lighest bullet you can find.

all that shit will minimize overpressure.

Am I correct in assuming the PS90 handles higher pressure and is a little friendlier to reload for than the FN57 pistol?
