Anyone else concerned with the sudden open lines between North and South Korea for the (apparent) sake of the upcoming winter Olympic games?

I've been listening to the information coming through NPR and although I have no specific thing to point to as a "smoking gun" for my skepticism, I can't help but feel there is some nefarious ulterior motives at work here. Two years with no contact and now, months before the Olympics (and on the heels of a bit of Nuclear testing) lines are now open. The North apparently being very civil and accommodating.

Well, one thing that strike me as odd anyway is the request for a group of fans, which may, or may not, include dignitaries. There is a (expected) group of "cheerleaders" in addition to the athletes themselves.

Anyone else get "a bad feeling bout this" as I do? Any further "conspiracy theories" to throw around on this?

Yeah.... they're running the clock down. Another game. Let's act all nice-nice while we run the time out to miniaturize our missiles.

I don't expect they will do anything to mess with the games. This is a fake 'thaw' to buy them time.

Right now Trump has to deal with a budget and dreamers and a government shut-down and a 2018 election midterm sweep (which is what I think is going to happen...) And so the NK's can dial things back... finish their missiles and expect to come out in a few months with a "Ha Ha" you can't touch us.

We'll see. No oil will suck in that country in a few months. Empty tanks make great live-fire-exercise targets/

Cheers,

Sirhr

We live in interesting times. I think that wiser men than I have a much more educated opinion than I do. The North Koreans don’t think like we do. Their motivations are strangely developed over decades. After 8 PLUS years of mismanagement by the US government has led to, what could turn out, a complete cluster fuck. Hopefully the Chinese, Russians, and the US could work together to ring in this crazy (I want to say zipperhead real bad but I will refrain) Rocket Man.

funny how peaceful you can get when the 7th fleet is coming your way...............
or maybe they realized they were out of sunblock 2000.......
I heard the soldier who defected had worms...that means they are eating anything that moves or crawls.........

For 60 years every time the North Korean famine has reached a certain point all they have had to do is bluster enough then briefly pretend to be slightly less unreasonable and Santa bails them out. I'm not going to try to hold my breath until that changes.

After the 50's and 60's, I'm sure we have a "madman protocol" in place. I'm sure part of the last 50 years has been to contain this motherfucker and wish for the best. Time wears down dictators, but in a cult of personality things are different. There are people that will die for him. Still. But I'm seeing fewer and fewer fat generals but his ass is getting so fat he can barely walk. I'm sure he has gout since his surgery seemed to work, then not so well. He's in constant pain until he loses all that weight and changes his diet. Doubt that's gonna happen, gout is called the "disease of kings" because it's usually related to rich foods.

Then his soldiers have worms. Not just "a" case of worms, not just "a" worm. Fucking multiple parasitic infestations. The guy HAD to escape or he was going to die. Whatever meager shit he was subsisting on, it was probably just enough to feed the worms. I saw 'em. Two were over 2 feet long. Then there were the other species they talked about, but didn't show. Oh, these weren't tapeworms either, which are known to get big. These were round worms. Probably contracted from eating infected, uncooked or rotting meat. Could have been contracted from eating another human. He was running from something bad, very bad, to run through where he went, risking all he did.

I have a friend behind the wire. He's an NBC specialist. This is his shit. He didn't find any nukes in Iraq, they sent him to look, but he's sure as shit busy now. However, know that he says that all the shit you guys are consuming in the news IS NOT GOING ON THERE. He said nothing has changed. DMZ is the same DMZ you knew when you were there, whenever you were there.

He said calm down and stop listening to the news.

I know this to be true. When the shit kicks off, the only heads up the news will get will be the mortars and artillery directed at their hotels. I forget what they tell soldiers going over there, but if NK goes off, they have conventional capabilities to put one HE round of (pick something) in each 1m square all along the DMZ and into Seoul. That's without his new nukes, which doesn't matter if those work or not, a fizzled out bomb is almost as bad as one that detonates. My biggest concern with NK and nukes would be the material he's used to construct the warheads, namely cobalt.
