Hello Gentleman,

Regarding the Simrad KN203FAB-4

1. Does the "4" mean anything?
2. Mfg early 2000. Gen2 or Gen3?
3. I hear these are big but OK for a cheaper Night Vision Sight.
I think Simrad is DOA so is it better to get a serviceable model instead?

there is no such thing as a kn203fab-4 that i've ever seen.

the serial number is a better way to tell the age or you can post a pic here and i can tell you. aside of that all US made simrads are gen 3 units.

lastly, you will be very hard pressed to find a unit that outperforms the simrad in terms of image quality etc. the aesthetics are unpleasing and the mounting system is unique and limited but they work fantastic for the price you pay for them.

Mine's the small one .. the 253 ...

These are GREAT for an expensive NV clipon ... the fact that currently they are all under $3k ... is just a bonus ... they are NOT a "cheaper NV Clipon"

yeah thats a typical 203fab from 1998-2001 ish

I hear some are Gen 2 later upgraded to Gen 3.

Do you feel this may be Gen 3?

there were no gen 2 US built simrads. if the tag says SPA defense it is us made and gen 3. they were the sole distributor of US simrad units
