I need to get one of these covers. Who does them and what size?
From my understanding I bought the very last one. I wanted Black but they were out and this one was all that was left. But definitely Check them out to be sure, never know they my have started making them again.

Anyone have LRI do their clip slot on an A1 build? I like their service the best over most but not at the expense of correctness.

Range Report:
GAP built M40A1. 69 degrees. Sunny. Winds, 5-7mph 100y
Winchester M118LR zero confirmation. BDC Confirmation.
I created a shoot n' see target based on the MST-100 BDC for the M118LR @100y. I only had enough paper to get from 100-900y. Point of aim held at 100y mark. Ran through BDC from 1 to 9. She's pretty much spot on. Total of 60 rounds through the tube at this point. Can't wait to get this barrel broken in...
100y = 0 (Zero Hold)
200y = 2
300y = 5
400y = 8
500y = 12
600y = 16
700y = 20.5
800y = 25
900y = 31

isnt there a police or fbi or some other department clone in a similar configuration like you are doing? could have swore I saw something with a similar scope.

M40A1 Grail Rifle for me it’s on the List of things to do!

Forgot I can actually post something... kind of. Started building the A1 this past weekend. Figured no time to breath life into the lords caliber than on his weekend.

Don't judge the shitty caliper...I got Mit tools but this is my beat up set I use to just get close, final fitting is feeler guages anyway.

Action still needs clip slotting and I'm not sure if I have the balls to do it myself or send it off to like LRI. I've done others but I feel a little weak in the knees on a close 6 digit.

LRI clip slots a bit differently than USMC.

Arguably better but not spec. I think their compound curve at the ejection port is a little different also but I'm guessing that changed with the 2112 doing the work.

I have a post in the gunsmithing forum that details a LRI clip slot and his site explains the difference he includes as well.

How he buries the rear of the base and his tolerance for and aft is very tight.

When I removed by base screws and wanted to remove the rail to set everything at a known baseline I noted the rail was to tightly fit to remove easily. It's fit that tight. I just left it in place and set my inch pound baseline on the base screws.

Yea I still haven't called. They are willing to do things different than what they typically do. When I built my XM3 I couldn't find anyone willing to do the double radius besides bill corely and he was like 6 months out for summer. Lri did the double radius and agreed not to sink it into the action. If it's not then I'm not sure who to send it to... might end up cutting it myself.

Maybe when I get back CONUS. I’ve been trying to get Paul to run a night LR course for awhile.
Only ever did 1 that in aware of. Way back when he did a team sniper event that went overnight and was a 2 day match. KIMS games, range estimation, etc. Did a night shoot out to 700 I think but the targets had a light on them. No NV. If he (or I had somewhere) allowed might shooting I'd invest in a nice clip on.

I have a few clip ins and lasers I’m more than willing to bring out for the course, I just need him to agree and do it. I’d even settle for an advanced long range course.

His basic course was pretty good, but was simply put, pretty basic.

My 2 versions; Both have 25" long Obermeyer-reamer-chambered Schneider contoured barrels. The one in the hydro-dipped McMillan A4 stock has the correct +30 MOA clip-slotted rail by LRI and coplanar Badger EFR. The AX Chassis has a custom contoured AI top rail to match the forend top rail at +20 MOA. Boringly accurate on steel out to 1000yds. Fun-ner at night with the PVS-27's and suppressed though.

Oh ok, so my turn. here’s my “version” of an M40A6. I chose to replace all the parts that actually make It an M40 with whatever I wanted but by the looks of some of the rifles being posted here I supposed it can identify as whatever it wants. So for the sake of posting in this M40 thread.. here’s my M40A6 🤪

Here is mine version of M40A1, not a clone, because hard to get right parts in Norway. Use a DDRoss A3 bottom, reweld scope mount(another magnetic one🫣) , but she sure can shoot, and that was my intend too, along putting a smile on face every time. Winchester,PMC,GGG, and Black Hills, in 168gr Sierra match config, love thoose.

May not be complete… but making progress! Two original M40 stocks and an A1 smear. I love the dark smear. Need to build them all but needs some important parts yet. Receivers… mounts and rings.

The top rifle is an M40A6 as issued with the FDE cerakoted chassis. The bottom rifle is an M40A5 barreled action dropped into a prototype M40A6 chassis (1 of 5 sent to the Marine Corps). This is probably how they first tested the new A6 chassis that were provided by Remington, I still need to do some early A6 research. I decided to use a prototype Badger Ordnance M40A6 scope mount with the prototype chassis, seems like a good match.

Accuracy International prototype M40A6 chassis, still doing research on this one. Titanium 40X receiver (1 of 9 made) mocked up for fun (actually, some A6 prototypes had titanium receivers).

For some reason the recoil lug slot is quite a bit further forward than the end of the Remington short action receiver. Does anyone know what's up with this? Was a different receiver used with this chassis (but still have a Remington SA footprint)? Any information would be appreciated, thanks!

Almost seems like they were going to wedge a pinned switchlug between the receiver and recoil lug.

Love the Premier!

My single turn may not be perfect but it is my favorite scope and it hits what it sees.
