Lettering / Painting on AR-15 Lower Rec

Re: Lettering / Painting on AR-15 Lower Rec

Go to Walmart. Get some Testors model paint and a little bottle of Testors thinner. I use white red and yellow. Use a toothpic to use to drag the paint into the rollmarks on your lower. Then, take a tissue and put some thinner on it and wipe off the excess paint. Don't scrub too hard or you'll pull all the paint out of the rollmarks. If you mess it up. Just use the thinner to wipe it all off and try again. When you finally get the result your are hoping for, just let the paint dry.

This is basically what I do, you can also use a paint pen. In the past I'd just spray some spray paint into a disposable cup, use a q-tip to blob some paint on the lettering and finish off as Muttt said above. Really easy, I think the model paint, or any decent paint would last for a good time without much discoloration(if you want to use white).

Make sure you degrease the area before hand too.

Many ways to skin a cat. What I did was paint over the markings that you want color filled. yeah paint on your lower haha. make sure to fill the mark fully. Then let it tack up say around 5 mins. or so. Now I used CLP on a patch, but squeeze the excess out. Then rub over ( dont push it in the recessed part )the lower where the paint shouldnt be. And after a few patches the excess is out. Mine came out great.

As you can see it even filled the finest of lines pretty good.
