Looking for advice, 300 WSM

I got an email yesterday from a guy I know wanting to know if I want to buy his Winchester 300WSM with an E.R Shaw bull barrel with no stock for $800.

I was wondering if you guys could give me some opinions on this set up and cartridge and is it worth it. I have zero experience and knowledge of the 300WSM round. Any other info I need to ask the seller?

I'd like to add a decent tack driving bolt gun to my collection. I do reload, so obtaining ammo shouldn't be a problem, but 95% use of this gun will be punching paper at 100 yds.

Doesnt really sound like that great of a deal because you still have to spend more money for a good stock. By the time you do that you could get a nice 5R 300 WM. Either way that's a lot of gun for just shooting 100 yds. Good luck either way.

Got some more info, it's a model 70, long action, polished and blued.

Sounds a little steep for what it is.and as stated above, it is definately too much gun for 100yds, unless you have unlimited funds.
