My old man is going to order a 6.5 maybe 308 large frame gas gun, he is looking hard at JP currently. Is the LRP07 still relevant in the discussion when you have newer/other offerings like an SP10, ADM UIC, LMT, or MR762?

I think they look amazing personally, and it's one of my holy grail rifles, but would it be money better spent on a different brand or a build (using in stock ready to ship parts like Rainier match barrel/craddock rtr)?
Neither one of us is a competitive shooter, but we have a lot of experience building and shooting ar platforms, mainly ar15s.

Nowadays you can find the LRP-07 at good deals but may want to look at the newer (marketed more rigid) JP LRI-20 upper, this replaced the LRP-07 upper. To answer your question, I'd ask, do you/your father have an intended use for the setup? If you wanted a modern setup that offers a switch barrel design, I'd go LMT MWS so your father can go 308 and 6.5 the same day within a minute or 2.

If you're looking for specific features then it would narrow down your search but all the big names are solid, just depends on the user/application.

He has the ability to shoot 500yd at a gun club 10 minutes from his house, and can probably setup to shoot 1000yd on family friends property we hunt a few hours away.
The use would mainly be target shooting with some deer hunting from a blind, he has a bunch of other semis more suited for the battle rifle slot. Mostly whatever he bought would stay in the configuration it was purchased.
It's hard to find anyone comparing the JP to current rifles, that's why I ask. The SP10 is dominating the semi auto game since a lot of stores actually stock them, or at least show them available online.
He's not opposed to custom orders, but can be impatient and loves to shoot lol.
