i am about to acquire an m1a set up to nm specs and was trying to get info on known performance loads and also see if varget and 175smk would work well in an m1a

There are specific loads for the M-1 usually using a bullet of 150-172 gr and 4895 or 4064. The wrong load can damage the rifle (even including some factory ammo!)

175SMK at 2.810" OAL, 42.2gr IMR4064, Fed 210M FGMM Primer, Rem Brass. Load is good all the way out to 1Kyd.
