Mega Maten Monolithic Questions

Hello folks,
First off, I am fully aware that the new Monolithic isnt even being manufactured yet. But, here are my questions because I am considering cancelling my backorder for the MKM keymod set.

1. With a monolithic rail, is it possible to have the gas block covered by the rail? In other words, I dont see how you can assemble the barrel with the gas block already on if the rail is already covering the gas block. Or, are the rails just not the extended versions that cover the gas blocks, ie. less than 12 inches for a "rifle" length.. If thats the case, i will stick with my extended MKM keymod set.

2. Are they still going to produce the MKM keymods?

3. Has anybody used the SLR .936 clamp on gas block under the MKM keymod set? SLR has the dimensions on their site but I am still not 100% confident it will fit under the rail.

The answer to the second question is yes they will still be making the MKM.

I have wondered about your first question also. Unless the changed the barrel nut wrench the only way I see it being possible is with a set screw gas block and just getting lucky enough to have the screws line up with the key mid slots.

I just got my MKM last week. The ID of the handguard is about 1.75" at its smallest. Its got a 'channel' for the gas tube so it would probably fit.

I asked the same question about the .936 gas block to Mega directly, I sent them the SLR gas block drawings and basically they replied "You will have no problems with a g/b of that dimension fitting under the rail"

I'd hang on to your backorder for the MKM. You never know what will happen in the meantime. Mega likely will successfully start producing the new mono in sufficient quantities, but what if they have production delays and you wait another six months or longer. Or what if some other wacko kid goes ape sh** and another ban-related buying frenzy happens. I waited over a year just to get an ambi MATEN set. You can always sell it pretty easily for what you paid. Consider your FFL fees a "hedge". I use a shop that charges $30.

Personally, the mono has less appeal because it can never be reconfigured for a longer or shorter barrel. The MKM or similar designs, such as Seekins' are plenty stiff.

Yes, and it's not easy.
I made a jig out of PVC to tap it into place.
If you need to remove it then it is even worse.

I haven't seen enough information about the monolithic to rule it out entirely. It may have a bottom rail that clamshells to the upper. Anyone have info to the contrary.

I have both a Mega maten monolithic upper and the AR15 Mega monolithic upper and both have Syrac adjustable gas blocks under the rails... So it is not a problem just takes finess... The Mega monolithics do not clam shell... One solid piece.

Is this their old monolithic setup or the one they are currently making? Does anybody know if they will use the same design (at least wrt the gas block)?

Hold on, is Mega going to again start making the monolithic rails again? What happened to the patent issues with LMT? When did this news come out? I do not see anything about it on their website. I have been looking to get one in AR15 and AR10, got the AR10 now just need the 15. Currently people selling them are charging high premiums, anyone got any idea on what the prices will be for them?

Mega answered my question today about the covered gas block. It's a no go. They will only have a 12" version for the maten. Thus, exposed gas block. I'll stick with the mkm keymod 14" as I like mine under the rail

They either worked out a deal with them (I know they tried before) or they were able to change the design enough to get a new patent (possibly with the level?).
