There was a Soba house in Nago right on Rt58 that had excellent pork soba soup. We would stop there for lunch coming back from some of the northern antenna sites we maintained.
Think I ate there a couple times, but it's been 40 years, so...

That is fantasy. I never saw one daggum palm in 29 Palms. I also had to rake straight lines in the sand and eat at Tanker's chow hall....
My Dad went there on a grade school field trip FFS! He was 9 or 10 in 1933 or 34 He remembers it smelling bad in some places but the one thing that stuck out was a "Patient" named Monk. He said the guy thought he was a monkey and they had swings and ropes set up in a special room for him to preform. Dad said he thought the guy was part monkey.View attachment 8158518
