I bought a 20x SS last year for my Savage .22, as SS scopes have a good reputation. I wanted something that was clear and tracked well. I don't have any high end scopes, but I recently did a side by side with it against my Falcon Menace 4.5-18 and a Simmons Whitetail Classic 6.5-20. Much to my surprise the SS was by FAR the softest of the bunch.

I had it out at the range today, and was having trouble seeing .22lr holes in the black at 100 yards. They were crystal clear with the Simmons. This was ~2pm on a bright, direct sunlit target.

Is this typical for the 20x SS? Admittedly most of the praise I've seen has been related to the 10x model, but I figured the 20x would be comparable. Was I wrong?

20x42 is handicapped right out of the box.

42/20 = 2.1 mm exit pupil

If you bought it directly from us we will gladly exchange it for a 16x or 10x.

Call and ask for Brady.

And the service never stops!!!

I try to always have a 16XSS in the stable-best backup scope one can have. Its good enough that if it needs to go on any of my rifles for any length of time it doesn't hinder me one bit.
