Picked up my new 6XC tube gun 3 weeks ago.

A big thank you to Jim & the guys @ Pierce for building me such a nice stick.

Also thanks to Gary Eliseo for spending the time helping me decide upon which options to get & for making a very comfortable stock.

This is a heavy build since my shoulder is not good anymore.
Specs:
Caliber = 6mm XC, using 115gr DTAC BN
Bartlein 1 in 7.5 twist @ 28" with badger brake
Eliseo RTS Tube gun stock
Pierce tubegun action
Jewell trigger
MK4 6.5-20x illuminated, will replace with something else when funds are available.
Currently Atlas bipod,was a rock with raptor feet

Pulled a few shots on these targets, it was 28 degrees & 36 degrees when these were shot. It also didn't help using the spiked feet on the original bipod on a cement bench, they kept slipping all over. Issues now resolved with the Atlas, no more slipping. Still playing with different loads but it looks like it will be a great shooter.

I think I saw your rifle at the Pierce shop awhile back when I dropped off my parts for a 6XC build. And oddly enough, I drove over and picked mine up after lunch today. I think they had it a little under 2 months. Can't wait to get the rest of the reloading supplies together so I can go shooting.

I've seen several other builds when i've been there, the eye candy makes me want to buy more. Great company to work with & quick turn around. I think it was 2 months for mine also & that included getting all of the parts. Best part for me is that they are only a little bit over one hour from my house. When you get yours ready for shooting drop me a pm, maybe we can hit a local range. What city are you in?

I have wanted a tube gun for a long time, i've done a lot of research on the many different manufacturers for over 1 year. My decision to go with the Eliseo RTS was due to the wonderful design/ergonomics of this system. It also helped finalize my decision when Pierce put the Eliseo in my hands, that is all it took to decide upon the manufacturer i was going to use.

wnroscoe: Recoil is a beast! Similar to the recoil of a .223 bolt. With my crappy scale it weighs approx 20 pounds. The barrel is 1.25" for 5" then a straight taper to 1" at the muzzle. I needed minimal recoil due to shoulder issues & this accomplishes that.

Chiller: RTS short action. As of now i have no plans on doing a switch barrel or have a need for a long action. I can shoot this one all day long w/o shoulder issues.

SkyScrapin: In the future i'll go with NF or S&B, still deciding which mfg to get. I already have a S&B Military MKII 3-12x50 on my AWP & one of my shooting buddies has a NF 5.5-22x50 on his TR in 6.5x47L that i can use for comparison. Either way i go it will be a 56mm objective & will be in the 5-25x mag range.

For years i've shot off of an uncle buds bull bag in front & a rear sand bag. This year i decided to start using my bipods exclusively with a rear bean bag. I can't haul the weight of my sandbags anymore unless my son goes with me. He prefers to leave the sandbags at home but will drag them for me if i ask.

The rock/raptor foot bipod is fine for prone but didn't work off of the bench for me, it kept slipping when trying to pre-load it on a cement bench. Now that the atlas is on it, i'm sure the groups will shrink. Groups were shot with the rock, received the atlas thursday.

I should have used the bags for load development like i always have but..

I'm over in Lansing actually. Yesterday when I picked up my rifle I got a nice tour of the shop and got to see a lot of custom actions in the various stages of building. I wonder if they could use a free hand to sweep the floors? Heck, I'd just be hovering over the machines and slowing them down. I'll keep you in mind once I get the rest of my build together and hopefully we can hit a range together. I'd like to try out a tubegun to see the fit and feel.

Diggler44, you are going to love the Eliseo. Both my wife & i have shoulder issues; a matched pair i guess. She has been using my .223 bolt gun this summer, can't handle the recoil of anything else. Next spring i plan i getting her behind the Eliseo; she won't go out in the winter with me. I am hoping this will allow me to build her one of them, i have a feeling i won't get mine back once she tries it.

A few of the questions asked of me during hunting/sight in season while shooting this gun:

Will that upper fit any standard AR lower or is it a special one?

I really like that gun yur shootin, is that a barrett?

Wow, nice gun! Is that a 50 BMG?

What caliber is that? When i told them 6mm XC, the question was repeated, answered 6mm XC, question is that like a .308, answer no more like a 243, end of discussion.
