Well I have been lurking and reading the board for quite a while and finally decided to start posting.

Anyways I picked up a rem 700 300 win mag bdl for $200 the other day. I have been wanting to build a 300 wm for a while, so now its time. I have had good luck in the past with Douglas Barrels and am planning to go with another one in 24" for this build.

Unfortunately I have never had the chance to see a McRees stock in person. If I purchase a folding stock model, does the stock lock solidly in position with no movement? What barrel contour fits the McRees stock the best? I appreciate the help.

Re: Need help with McRees Stock info

The McRee folder locks very solidly. I have no issues shooting at any distance with the stock, it is very rigid. The stock will take any contour you would use on the 700. It is the width of the action all the way through the stock....

Find a better grip and enjoy the new rifle.

Just put a ERGO 4005-BK grip on mine today, had to cut the top of the grip off so it's flat. Still has a small curve for the palm web, feels real good to me, same as my ARs. You can't go wrong with the McRees.
