New GAP .308 arrived

I thought I'd post a few pics of a handy little tack driver that showed up this week. Thanks to George and crew for another really nice stick.

The build specs are as follows:

.308, GAP Templar action, Manners T4-A (6 flush cups), Badger M5 DMM, Bader EFR, Remington trigger, Bartlein 1 in 10, 18" barrel, Varmint/PSS contour, threaded (5/8x24), and an Altas rail and bi-pod. It'll be topped with an S&B 3-12x50 PMII P3.

The attention to detail on this one is about as good as I've seen. Hoping to put it through its paces tomorrow am if the weather cooperates and will get back with a full range report once I do. In the meantime, enjoy the shitty iPhone pics.

I'm trying to view this on my HP-Mini, damn damn damn it's tought to see.

Very nice from what I can see though, lol!


Note to self, buy bigger laptop so to see gun porn better.

EBM - Its a TAB sling and the standard OD AFAIK.

Hydrodipped. I actually think when I refinish I'll go painted. The hydrodipping is already showing signs of not holding up all that well. The color and detail are awesome though.

It'll go back to Manners. There a number of shops doing some amazing paint work though so you have a lot of options.

Haven't decicided for sure at this point and am not sure I'm in a position to lay out the cash I'd have to to get what I'd really want. Focused on getting this one suppressed next.

Very cool. How do you like that 18" barrel? Seems a bit extreme to me; though I have read articles saying anything longer than 18" provides no addes benefit out to certain ranges. Congrats though! I just got my first GAP and love it! Enjoy!

I'm curious what you're seeing?

I have a rifle on order with a multicam dip but if it's not resiliant...?

The hydro-dip website says they use an automotive or marine clear finish (in gloss, or matte) to protect the color.

Tattoo - First off, thanks for your service. The 18" barrel is really handy and more than enough to 600 (which is about my limit today). That said, it'll get the right driver to a grand no problem.

EBM - On the hydro dip I'm probably being a bit too critical. There is some rubbing and a small chip at the bolt handle cut out that I am fairly certain would have held up if painted. There are also some coverage gaps around the tang and safety and where the adjustable stock splits. The reality is I'm not expecting this one to stay pretty for long.

I'm saying my hydro dipped stock chipped.

That said, a sample size of one is not particularly representative of the whole so this is not an indictment of hydro dipping and YMMV.
