Hello, ive lurked on here over the last year or so and finally signed up.
I'm a champion pistol shooter and instructor, mostly use carbines and pistols. Been shooting since i was a little kit with my Dad, and finally got a bolt gun. I picked a stock Remington 700 AAC-SD that i got brand new for a local shop.
I started by lapping in the lugs and throwing away the Hogue stock. Im running the Bell & Carlson Tactical Medalist stock, Weaver 20MOA picatiny mount, American Defense QD Mounts holding a Bushnell Elite Tactical 5-15X w/Mil Dot.
Im looking forward to getting more range time and understanding the precision long range world. Its very different than im used to.

Your ring/mount combination are WAY too high. The goal is to get your objective as close to the barrel as possible and figure out what height you need to get a full sight picture while having the correct cheekweld.

Getting rid of the QD mount would help a lot!!! For precision long range, I would never trust a QD mount either.

Listen to these guys. That mount is designed for AR style weapon systems where you need to clear the front rail. Get some TPS or Seekins rings on there, instead. Other than that, it looks like a great starting point. Be sure to update us when you get a chance to shoot it.
