Thank you for allowing me to join the learning community. 40 year archer, 20+ year Pastor, the past 10 yrs I have been exclusively handgun hunting out to 300 yards... Full-Time Corporate Pilot and now entering the long range rifle world.

Starting with a Savage 110 Tactical, 24” .308 w/ (Federal Gold Medal Sierra Match King 175 gr BTHP), Sightmark Latitude 6.5-25x56, and Silencerco Hybrid Suppresser.

I look forward to learning from everyone.

Hey there I'm from Tyler, but live elsewhere now due to the military.

There's a 1500~ yard range near Terrell and a long range match in Greenville every month at Jacob's Plain. The Navasota matches may be close as well.

Even if PRS isn't your thing, Dan Jarecke, Paul Reid, etc. will be more than happy to help you out in any way they can.

I’m from Longview as well, but haven’t lived there in 20 years as the Marine Corps doesn’t want to send me home. I agree with DisplacedTexan that those matches are nice. I have shot in 2 of them. But most of the time I go to the farm in Henderson, and shoot the power lines when I’m home (deer season). We can shoot out to 1530 yards there.

Thanks a ton for the info and thank you for your service. Just getting into long range rifle shooting ... I’ve been pushing my custom handguns out btwn 300-500. Now for a solid 1000 yard .308 ... I know pushing a 308 to a 1000 is work but I just really love the .308.

That’s what I’m looking for, I think (something close to shoot out to 1000 yards) ... not sure matches are for me, but who knows. My goal is to setup a solid 1000 yd .308 that I can add to my line up.
