Ordered up my second McMillan stock on Thursday much to my wifes chagrin. Spoke to Ryan twice during the day with different questions and guidance from him. I was operating on somewhat of a tight budget since my toilet decided to crap out on me literally and leak into my kitchen but my saint of a wife gave me a green light to place the order.

So I decided to go with an O.D. green A4 for a Remmy 700P SA with two fluch cups on the left side and two swivel studs for bipod placement and the spacer system butt pad.

I'm fracking psyched! Now I just have to wait the estimated four months for it to arrive.

Ryan at McMillan made ordering my stock like writing my Christmas wish list to Santa (hopefully it will arrive just in time for Christmas ;)If you're on here Ryan thanks again.
Thank you to all the companies like McMillan and US Optics that produce top of the line products and follow that up with unrivaled CS.

I take it you ordered direct from McMillan? I'm looking at getting an A5, but no place seems to stock them. Do you happen to know if 4 months is typical for all their stocks or just the A4?

Ryan and one other CS person at McMillan told me 3-4 months typically. probably 4 months on any A series stock. You may want to check out JW Precision in the commercial section. I believe he Keeps the A5's in stock.

It was explained to me that typically they need to accumulate enough orders of one style stock to fill the orders. The wait time is pretty understandable considering all the choices and features for just one stock.

I forgot to mention to check McMillans specials page. They may have what you're looking for there if your not picky about colors or options. It gets updated periodically, but you never know, maybe you wouldn't have to wait.

Yeah, I guess you never know. My first McMillan took about 6 months to get. CS said that lately it seems to have gotten better. I'm typically not a very patient person and at first I was willing to compromise on exactly what I wanted for a stock. I really wanted an M40A3 replica stock but I figured that I couldn't afford all the mods I would need right now to make it work with the action/barrel. I decided that I would get everything that I want in an A4 with the money I have available now and put the saddle cheek piece on later and have it inletted for badger M5 metal later. Its unlikely that I'll be able to afford the upgrades anytime soon and I think i'll be very happy with the configuration that I ordered.

I just order direct from McMillan and put up with the wait. For the .mil discount, it's worth it.

Speaking of the wait, mine was cut short--got the call tonight my A5 is ready to ship. I'm gonna have 'em wait till my travel voucher hits (should be NLT wednesday) and then ship it out.

Stoked.

Thanks Ryan, what I really need though is luck with the wife! ;)I think I'll be ok as long as I don't mention my recent purchase. lol

by the way, did you get the change on butt pad from the decelorator to the spacer system with the waffle pattern pad?

Man! I can't wait, never thought I'd be excited for snow and December....

If I remember GAP had a few A4's USMC, So sniper fill, SA, your choice of DD ross BM or Badger M5 BM, one stud and 4 or 6 flush cups and an adj cheek ready to ship for 7....something.

Might give em a call if you want it NOW.

Thanks I-Rep but unfortunately I pretty much used up my "fun" money for a while so I couldn't really swing the Badger or DD Ross bottom metal and the correct barrel contour. I figure in a few years when I'm ready to send it off to GAP or APA i'll have the works done to it.

My stock barrel/action definately outperform my abilities so i'll shoot the shit out of it until its time for a barrel change.

But that the M40A3 is definately what I hope to end up with ultimately.

Love my McMillan A5, sold my AICS for it and don't think I'll ever look back. The AICS had some excellent features but is nowhere near as comfortable to lug around the mountains than the A5.
(JW Precision also, good deal)

SuperSeal send me a pm with the name you ordered your stock under and what you ordered. We don't have any orders that are 6 months old right now unless you ordered a full installation.

Hey Ryan, by the way, why is it that you folks don't make the old style hook section on the A4's anyway? It looks like it would make a better point of contact and it made it look a little less gainly. If you know what I mean...

By the way 96c, I almost went with the AICS but I wasn't sure I would like the thumb hole stock and I liked the fit and finish of my HTG so much I wanted to go back for more.

I got my A-5 for my Sako Quad trainer last week. Unfortunately the inletting was wrong but I called and they sent UPS for my stock and barrelled action and are fixing it now. Great customer service so far.

I did the same thing. Ordered last August, got in in January.

I'm pissed, though! I didn't know that they had a .mil discount.

I do really love my A5 though. Nothing on the market even compares.

I'm looking to buy an A4 and was told to look at JW Precision. Their A4 stock is $760 vs. what I've seen elsewhere in the neighborhood of $450 - $550. Is that because there is no wait vs. buying directly from McMillan, or are JW's stocks fully tricked out?

I'm still trying to learn the lingo etc. about these stocks, and trying to figure what I want/need in one.

COfox, you are sadly mistaken. JW's is a full spec stock. He is still saving you cash (50 bucks, I think) over what it would cost for you to order from McMillan, over 800 for that stock. He was GTG with mine. I actually was the guy who told him to see if he could bring these stocks in as an almost everyday order.
Not sure what he has right now, but his turn around is very good as he always orders so the waits are for the next shipment, not yours.

Thanks Chad, I've been trying to show Ryan the difference between the older style A4 butt hook vs the one they produce today. I'm afraid that I'm failing miserably. Maybe someone can provide a better example than I can or explain it better. Either way I know that I'm gonna love the stock either way.

I bought my 1st McM (A-5 in GAP Camo) from JW and I absolutely love it! Last month I ordered my 2nd A-5, but ordered this one direct from McMillan. I realize that it'll take some time, but when finished this stock will be shipped straight to GAP.

Just yesterday I received an order confirmation from McMillan in the mail, and I was quick to sign it and send it back out. Their customer service was fantastic, and the ETA I was told is November (about the time my 29" #9 Bartlein is due in to George).
